  • Patent number: 6588768
Abstract: A device for sealing the contact zone between two apparatus parts which are movable relative to one another. The device includes a sealing element which extends along the contact zone and is fixed on the first apparatus part and also a mating surface which is provided on the second apparatus part and comes into contact with the sealing element in a closed position of the two apparatus parts. The sealing element is formed by a resilient hollow section body which has at right angles to its longitudinal extent a part-zone which is curved in an arc shape in an open position of the two apparatus parts and rests resiliently on the mating surface in the closed position of the two apparatus parts. The hollow section body—in the open position—has a circular cross-section at right angles to its longitudinal extent.

  • Patent number: 5667226
Abstract: A sealing device for effecting a seal between two relatively movable members, such device being formed from a single strip of springy metal shaped to form a hollow body from which a pair of parallel mounting legs extend. Between the legs is one part of a reinforcing member having a second part which extends into the body and overlies and spans the bottom thereof. Fasteners secure the mounting legs and the reinforcing member to one of the relatively movable members.

  • Patent number: 5193823
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for sealing the space between two relatively movable parts, the sealing device being an integral, springy metal member shaped to form a hollow body having a domed top, two spaced apart side walls, and a bottom wall. Extensions are joined to one side wall and to the bottom wall and project in the same direction beyond the housing. The extensions overlie and are secured to one another.

  • Patent number: 5159954
Abstract: This invention relates to a shutoff mechanism, in particular in the form of a hinged safety-valve for large gas ducts, which contains a plate-shaped shutoff body which can be pressed against a seat on the housing. To guarantee a reliable and secure shutoff of large gas lines, the shutoff mechanism, together with an additional cover, forms a gas-tight chamber closed off from the two chambers of the gas line. The pressure in this chamber is monitored and is different from the pressures in the two chambers of the gas line.

  • Patent number: 4515686
Abstract: An air separator method and apparatus provides a second, preferably downward air stream about and rotating in the same sense as a first, upward air stream to carry away coarser feedstock material siezed from a supply and centrifugally separated from finer feedstock material by the first air stream.

  • Patent number: 4412556
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for shutting off large pipes in which a two-armed first lever (14) is connected through one arm (14a) to the actuating rod (9) while its other arm (14b) acts on a spring (15), while the two-armed second lever (16) is connected by one arm (16a) to the spring (15) while its other arm (16b) forms the pivot bearing (17) for the first lever (14). This arrangement enables the space occupied by the lever arrangement to be significantly reduced and provides for a simple construction.

  • Patent number: 4398697
Abstract: The invention relates to a pivotal shut-off and control flap of which the central section (1) comprises an elongate shell (3) which at its two ends is fixedly connected to shaft elements (4) through hub members (6), provision being made for a limited relative movement between the shell and the vane section (2). In an arrangement such as this, the vane section does not undergo excessive deformation, even in the event of severe temperature stressing on one side. The torque required for operating the flap is uniformly transmitted to the vane section.

  • Patent number: 4278236
Abstract: A valve housing is adapted to be built into a pipeline, and a valve plate is movable into a valve-closing position in the housing. A displaceable sealing member provides a seal between the valve plate and the housing. At least one spring tends to displace the member into sealing position, and at least one pressure-medium actuated bellows is arranged, upon receiving the pressure medium, to displace the member away from sealing position.
