  • Patent number: 5405089
Abstract: A shower head has a rigid body forming a pressurizable compartment having a downstream wall of composite synthetic-resin material having an inner face and formed with an array of throughgoing holes so that pressurized water in the compartment will exit therefrom through the holes. A unitary liner sheet of a soft elastomer has an outer face bonded to the inner face of the downstream wall and is formed with respective tubular nipples fitting in and projecting through the holes. Each nipple forms a throughgoing passage having an inner end opening in the compartment and an outer end opening outside the body. The liner sheet and integral nipples are molded in situ against the inner face of the plate forming the downstream wall of the shower body. The composite synthetic-resin material is a polybutyleneterephthalate and the elastomer is silicone or the composite synthetic-resin material can be polypropylene and the elastomer a thermoplastic.

  • Patent number: 5079781
Abstract: A backflow preventer used in combination with a plumbing fixture has a pressurizable supply line, an output hose that can be equipped with a sprayer or shower, and a drain. It further has a valve casing having an inlet valve seat forming an inlet port connected to the supply line, a vent valve seat forming a vent port opening to the atmosphere, and an outlet port opening laterally between the seats and connected to the supply hose. A valve body is movable in the casing between a normal-flow position on the vent seat blocking the vent and permitting flow between the inlet and outlet ports and a backflow-preventing position on the inlet seat blocking the inlet port and permitting flow between the outlet and vent ports.

  • Patent number: 5046521
Abstract: An assembly for mounting a fitting, for instance a mixing faucet, to a wall has an anchor plate fixable in the wall, a threaded stud fixed to and projecting longitudinally forward from the anchor plate, and a formation on the fitting formed with a throughgoing aperture through which the stud projects. A back nut threaded on the stud has a front face bearing forward on the formation at the aperture and a front or counternut threaded on the stud has a back face bearing backward on the formation of the aperture. Thus the formation is longitudinally captured between the nuts and same can be screwed along the stud to longitudinally displace and position the fitting therealong.
