  • Patent number: 4796491
Abstract: Apparatus for stripping insulation from electrical conductors is described. The setting of the values for the stripping length and depth is carried out on a stripping unit of the apparatus. Cam paths and slideways operated by means of a roll with ram are provided and are in operative connection with an insulation removal means. A drive unit acts on a roll with ram in such a way that the latter is guided by means of sliders vertically movable between two vertical guides and that laterally of slider is provided a transmission lever with slideway for operating the stripping apparatus formed from two knife parts. A lever operated by a roll is provided on cam path for operating the insulation removal means. Stripping unit and conductor clamping unit can be operated by drive unit by means of separate drive lines or phases, the values necessary for stripping being set exclusively on stripping unit independently of the drive.

  • Patent number: 4783901
Abstract: Apparatus for connecting extremely short conductor ends to electrical connecting elements, such as e.g. clamps and/or plugs is described. A separating device can be integrated into a conventional stripping and crimping apparatus. The latter has a common pair of clamping jaws, the lower clamping jaw having a cutting edge facing an anvil for separating the electrical connecting elements from a support strip. A support strip supply means is provided in such a way that the support strip can be introduced into a separating device located outside the crimping zone. This space-saving construction makes it possible to considerably reduce the necessary conductor insertion depth.

  • Patent number: 4354147
Abstract: A drive and control arrangement for a mechanical eccentric press is disclosed. The arrangement includes a direct current electric motor connected to a reduction gear mechanism. An output shaft of the reduction gear mechanism is coupled to an eccentric such that the eccentric rotates with the shaft about a common axis. A connecting rod of the press is connected to the eccentric for pivotal movement about an axis parallel to and offset from the common axis of the shaft and eccentric. The arrangement includes a limit switch that is operated by a cam element adjustably mounted on the eccentric. An electronic control device is included and has a starter unit for supplying electric current to the motor, and a braking unit for short-circuiting the armature of the motor through a resistance in order to brake the motor and the press. The braking unit is actuated by the limit switch a predetermined period after the connecting rod has moved through its bottom dead center position.
