  • Patent number: 10267310
Abstract: A variable capacity pump includes a control ring moveable within a pump chamber to alter the volumetric capacity of the pump. First and second control chambers individually receive pressurized fluid to create forces to bias the control ring in a predetermined direction. A return spring urges the control ring toward a maximum volumetric capacity pump position. The control ring connects and disconnects the second control chamber from a source of pressurized fluid based on a position of the control ring. Forces from the control chambers and the spring act in combination with one another or against one another and against the spring force to establish first and second equilibrium pressures based on a pressurized or vented condition of the second control chamber.

  • Patent number: 6896786
Abstract: A process for the production of wear-resistant, coated surfaces includes the use of at least two electrodes connected to a voltages source which are mounted in, or border, a reaction space through which an electrolyte flows in which the surface to be coated is located. The process is distinguished by the fact that the direction of the flow of the electrolyte is selectively reversed at least once during the coating process to enable better control of the formation of the oxide layer.

  • Patent number: 6234775
Abstract: A pump comprises a housing and a pump unit arranged therein. The pump unit comprises a first and a second thrust plate and a ring arranged therebetween and having a through opening. The ring rests on the two thrust plates at least at an outer peripheral region thereof, and a pressure chamber is formed between the second thrust plate and the housing. A spacer supports the first thrust plate at a distance from the housing, and the spacer is associated at least in part with a radially inner surface area of the first thrust plate opposite the through opening. This allows deformation of the first thrust plate under operational pressure so as to hinder formation of a gap between the thrust plate and the pump insert.

  • Patent number: 6213733
Abstract: A compressor for an air-conditioning system of a motor vehicle is proposed, which has a controllable compression medium feed mechanism powered by a drive shaft and which, for example, is powered by the combustion engine of the motor vehicle by a belt driven by a drive shaft, where the belt is coupled with the drive shaft of the compressor. The compressor is characterized by the drive wheel (29) having a belt pulley body (31) engaged with the belt (33) and coupled via an elastic coupling element (35) with the drive shaft (7), and by the drive shaft (7) being equipped with a torque limiting mechanism (predetermined fracture point (65)). In the case of another version, it is envisaged that the support mechanism (127) contains a projection (137) protruding from the take-up plate (11) and preferentially forming a single piece with this, as well as a supporting element (139).

  • Patent number: 6092996
Abstract: A compressor, particularly suited for use in the motor vehicle air conditioning system, having a compact and simple design. The housing is constructed of a body portion having a first wall area which defines the cavity containing the pumping unit and is designed to withstand the internal cavity pressure. A second wall area, not designed to withstand the internal cavity pressure, cooperates with a housing cover to seal the housing. The second wall area is under tension and is attached to the body by welding or by bending the second wall area. The cover includes a pair of pressure cavities separated by concentric annular sealing bridges. The sealing bridges have axially offset sealing surfaces which cooperate with a valve plate to seal off the two chambers. The sealing surface of the radially outer bridge may be formed of any elastic material. A drive-shaft and swash plate cooperate with a take-up plate to operate one or more pistons. A drive plate, integral with, or attached, as by welding, etc.
