  • Patent number: 6487945
Abstract: A tool head having a first slide fitted with a tool holder as well as a second slide for eliminating the unbalance effect created by the off-centering of the first slide. An actuating device that can be actuated longitudinally that is able to control the radial displacement of the two slides. Each of these slides is provided with a pressing device for pressing the slide against an oblique support surface of the actuating device. The force exerted by each of the pressing devices is determined, so as to be greater than the centrifugal force exerted on each slide and in a direction opposed to that of the centrifugal force. This force is determined so that the resultant force of all forces exerted on each slide is constant.

  • Patent number: 6186024
Abstract: The device for displacing a platform includes two carriages driven, simultaneously or separately, on guiding rails oriented along an axis X. The two carriages carry a platform mounting slides engaged with slideways on the carriages. At least one of the slides of the platform carriage and at least one of the slideways of the carriage is oriented at an angle other than 90° relative to an axis X. The displacement along any direction of a plane comprised of the axes X and Z of a tool holder spindle or work piece spindle mounted on the platform can be obtained only by the relative or simultaneous moving of the two carriages on the guiding rails.

  • Patent number: 4964321
Abstract: An auxiliary shaft (16) mounted coaxially with a main shaft (5) has at the top an eccentric (17) operatively connected via grooving (20, 21) to a tool-fastening plate (13). At the bottom of the auxiliary shaft is a wheel (19) fixed to the eccentric and provided with a recess (18). The recess can engage a fixed lug cam so that a feed motor can cause both the rotary movement of the ball turner and a tool correction effected by a relative rotary movement between the main shaft and the auxiliary shaft. For the sake of accuracy, the angular displacement is limited to an area in which the displacement of the tool-fastening plate caused by the eccentric is substantially linear with the angular displacement. All rotary motions are measured during the operation by a shaft encoder (9) and communicated to a CNC system.

  • Patent number: 4939963
Abstract: For high-precision material-removing machining of the lateral surface of a workpiece (1) rotating with the main spindle (3) of a turning lathe, a cutting tool (17) is fixed on a slide (14) which carries out an axial movement synchronized with the rotation of the main spindle by means of a cam assembly (18, 21, 20) control. The shaft (21) of the cam assembly is rotation-tightly coupled to the main spindle by electric means (8, 10).

  • Patent number: 3933060
Abstract: An automatic lathe comprising a workpiece spindle, a compound slide embodying a longitudinal slide and a cross-slide, two primary cam disks seated on a primary control shaft, and transmission levers individually associated with said primary cam disks. The longitudinal slide and said cross-slide each are controlled by said primary cam disks through the agency of the individually associated transmission levers. At least two lathe tool supports are arranged adjacent one another at the compound slide. A control mechanism is provided which can be switched-on during a portion of each work cycle of the automatic lathe for carrying out a thread chasing operation by means of a thread chasing tool clamped in one of the lathe tool supports. The control mechanism embodies an auxiliary control shaft which is or can be placed in driving connection with the workpiece spindle and two auxiliary control cam disks fixedly seated upon said auxiliary control shaft.
