  • Patent number: 8340908
Abstract: A tracking device may be used to detect a position or movement of an object. The tracking device may include a housing that supports an emitter. The emitter may transmit a first signal. A measurement device within the housing may measure rotational movement of an object. Circuitry may receive a second signal in response to the first signal. The circuitry may reset an angle value to a predetermined value based on the second signal. The angle value may be determined by a measurement of the rotational movement of the object.

Date of Patent: December 25, 2012
Assignee: Harman Becker Automotive Systems GmbH
Inventors: Wolfgang Hess, Tobias Münch, Hans-Jürgen Nitzpon
  • Patent number: 7916039
Abstract: A system is provided for conveying information to an occupant of a motor vehicle. In one example of an implementation, driving-relevant information is obtained for example using sensors or a navigation system. An audio message is determined based on the obtained driving-relevant information. Spatial characteristics for the audio message are also determined. The audio message is output in the motor vehicle with the determined spatial characteristic via loudspeakers.

  • Patent number: 7386133
Abstract: A method and system for determining the position of a sound source in relation to a reference position, comprising the steps of generating a sound signal emitted from the sound source, detecting the emitted sound signal, processing the sound signal by the use of a physiological model of the ear, deducing at least one of lateral deviation in relation to the reference position, time delay of the sound signal from the sound source to the reference position, and the sound level of the detected sound signal.

  • Publication number: 20060029139
Abstract: A data transmission synchronization system provides a method for transmitting a stream of continuous audio and/or video data from a transmitter to a receiver on a communication link where the system determines if synchronization information is present in a data source. If no synchronization information is present, the system generates new synchronization to insert into a transmitted data stream. If synchronization information is present, the system checks the information accuracy and corrects the information if necessary. The system transmits a data stream with inserted synchronization information.

  • Publication number: 20030002859
Abstract: The sampling rate of the optical and electrical signals provided by a DVD player according to standard IEC 61937 are converted in a first transcoder to the sampling rate of a multimedia network. The signals generated by the first transcoder with the sampling rate of the multimedia network are transmitted through a multimedia network line to a second transcoder, which based on the parameters contained in the signals received generates the signal originally generated by the DVD player and transmits it according to standard IEC 61937 to a DVD decoder. The technique is specifically suited for use in a motor vehicle and is distinguished by low technical complexity since without the transcoding by the two transcoders the encoded data stream at the output of the DVD player would have to be first decoded and then transmitted in multichannel mode as linear PCM data through a multimedia network line, for example, a MOST line. This approach, however, requires three to four times the bandwidth.
