  • Publication number: 20030000211
Abstract: In an internal-combustion engine having an exhaust-gas driven supercharger (8) and having at least two exhaust-gas valves (2, 3) per cylinder, a first exhaust-gas valve (2) in each cylinder is connected to a first exhaust manifold (4), whilst a second exhaust-gas valve (3) in each cylinder is connected to a second exhaust manifold (5). The two exhaust manifolds (4, 5) lead to at least one exhaust-gas turbine in at least one turbo compressor and the first exhaust-gas valves (2) are arranged to be opened at all engine speeds, whilst the second exhaust-gas valves (3) are arranged to be opened only at higher engine speeds. The first exhaust manifold (4) has a smaller flow area than the second exhaust manifold (5). By choosing which exhaust-gas valves are to be used, the size of the flow ducts between engine and exhaust-gas turbine can easily be suited to the size of the exhaust-gas flow which is available at the time.

  • Patent number: 6234120
Abstract: The two-stroke internal combustion engine has a cylinder, a piston, a connecting rod connected between a crankshaft and the piston. The engine has an inlet defined at a crankcase for conveying a fuel mixture from a carburetor. The engine includes a cylinder which has two pistons that move towards and away from each other. The engine includes crankcases at both ends of the cylinder so that each crankcase accommodates a crankshaft which is connected to the pistons via piston rods. The crankshafts are interconnected mechanically so that both pistons move simultaneously towards their top and bottom center positions. The carburetor is connected to the first crankcase. Only the second crankcase is connected to the induction port via a passage. The pipe extends between the first crankcase and the second crankcase for conveying the fuel mixture from the first crankcase to the second crankcase.

  • Patent number: 5782046
Abstract: The present invention relates to a wooden log element which is intended to be stacked with similar log elements to form a wall structure while using a corner jointing technique. The log element includes surface parts having inwardly facing surfaces which are provided with grooves that extend in the longitudinal direction of the log element. It further includes spacers which function to hold the surface parts in a supported mutually spaced relationship. An empty space between the surface parts is filled with a thermal insulating material which when cured will fix the outer parts and the spacers in position. The log element has the form of a natural log in which the outer parts disposed on each side of the thermal insulating material have an arcuate cross-sectional shape and are formed by a plurality of mutually joined panel elements with the spacers disposed therebetween in a mutually spaced relationship along the full length of the log element and essentially enclosed by the thermally insulating material.

  • Patent number: 5753514
Abstract: When small quantities of liquid sample are to be collected from the outlet of a small cannula tube, there is used a sample container (1) which includes a narrow capillary tube (2) whose one end is closed with an elastomeric seal (4) through which the cannula point can be inserted. Instead of taking liquid from the bottom of a vessel, the liquid is permitted to remain unified by means of capillary forces in the capillary tube (2), which forms part of an axial channel. The capillary widens towards the other end, for taking up larger sample quantities.

  • Patent number: 5741284
Abstract: A dialysis probe combination with a microdialysis probe (1) which can be inserted into tissue with the aid of an insertion device that includes a canula tube (9). In order to be able to remove the canula tube (9) after insertion, the tube is provided with a slot along the whole of its length, this slot preferably including an angle of about 65.degree. in the radial direction. During insertion, the probe is held within the canula tube by virtue of the major part of the probe being larger than the slot. However, the proximal portion of the probe includes a flattened part which is able to pass through the slot, and the canula tube can be drawn past the flattened part by lifting this part, while leaving the probe in the tissue.

  • Patent number: 5031470
Abstract: An arrangement for converting linear motion from a power source to rotary motion, where the power source is intended to coact with a cam in a manner to produce rotary motion, this rotary motion being carried out by a shaft. The invention is characterized by a first member which comprises a rod-unit (4) or a corresponding element intended to move reciprocatingly, and the cam (2) which is attached to one end of the rod-unit, this cam having curve-shaped parts (20, 21) on solely the surface thereof remote from the rod-unit. A second member includes two mutually opposing wing-shaped parts (6, 7) which project outwardly away from the shaft and which are rigidly connected to the shaft (3). A roller (8, 9) or corresponding element is rotatably mounted on the outer part of each wing (6, 7). The rollers are intended to roll on the cam (2), therewith converting linear motion to rotary motion.
