  • Patent number: 5318584
Abstract: Blood lancet device for withdrawing blood for diagnostic purposes, in which with the aid of a lancet drive (3) in a housing (1) a lancet holder (6) with a lancet (34) positioned in it and moveable along a predetermined, straight puncture path is moved until the tip (35) of the lancet emerges from the outlet (84), in order to produce a wound in a body part adjoining the outlet (84). The lancet holder (6) also serves to retract the lancet (34) into a position in which the tip (35) is again positioned within the housing (1).In order to make possible a puncture involving especially little pain, the lancet drive (3) has a rotary/sliding transmission system (4) whose input side (16) is formed by a transmission member which is rotatable about an axis of rotation parallel to the predetermined puncture path.

  • Patent number: 5296356
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for the detection of an analyte in a sample liquid by an enzyme-immunoassay in which an enzyme-labelled compound is partitioned between a solid and a liquid phase and the amount of enzyme label in the liquid phase outside the solid phase is determined as a measure of the concentration of the analyte. The measurement is carried out in a non-porous molding having the liquid phase contained therein in contact with the solid phase. The method is particularly suitable for carrying out in a cuvette which can be filled via the porous matrix or on a test strip having a space in contact with the solid phase.

  • Patent number: 4605629
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of improving reagent elution from a reagent strip comprising a handle on one end which is affixed an absorbent carrier impregnated with a reagent. The absorbent carrier is pressed against the handle by a thin mesh which is stuck or sealed on to the handle on opposite sides of the carrier.Another mesh is between the carrier and the handle. When the carrier is immersed in a liquid, the meshes improve the elution of the reagent into the liquid.

  • Patent number: 4515889
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for carrying out analytical determinations by mixing and incubating a sample solution with at least one reagent and optically measuring a parameter in the incubated reaction mixture. The mixing, incubating and measuring are carried out during the action of a centrifugal force which forces the solution through a plurality of interconnected small hollow spaces having flow resistance so adapted with regard to one another as to mix the reaction components. Incubation may also take place before the reaction solution passes from the plurality of interconnected small hollow spaces into a measuring chamber in which the measurement is carried out.
