  • Patent number: 4605629
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of improving reagent elution from a reagent strip comprising a handle on one end which is affixed an absorbent carrier impregnated with a reagent. The absorbent carrier is pressed against the handle by a thin mesh which is stuck or sealed on to the handle on opposite sides of the carrier.Another mesh is between the carrier and the handle. When the carrier is immersed in a liquid, the meshes improve the elution of the reagent into the liquid.

  • Patent number: 4515889
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for carrying out analytical determinations by mixing and incubating a sample solution with at least one reagent and optically measuring a parameter in the incubated reaction mixture. The mixing, incubating and measuring are carried out during the action of a centrifugal force which forces the solution through a plurality of interconnected small hollow spaces having flow resistance so adapted with regard to one another as to mix the reaction components. Incubation may also take place before the reaction solution passes from the plurality of interconnected small hollow spaces into a measuring chamber in which the measurement is carried out.

  • Patent number: 4488153
Abstract: Active interrogation devices which can be moved in a track direction relative to passive response devices transmit electrical energy to the response devices with the aid of ferrite rod antennae which are each arranged in the track direction and are contained in each interrogation device and each response device. In the response devices, this energy feeds a transmitting device by which an item of data assigned to a response device can be transmitted in the form of an electrical response signal to a frame antenna of each interrogation device and each response device to the interrogation device. The antenna arrangements can therefore be designed to be relatively narrow in the track direction without the signal for the data transmission exhibiting phase jumps.

  • Patent number: 4439527
Abstract: Means and method for the detection of hydrogen peroxide or of hydrogen peroxide-forming substrates, consisting of 4-aminoantipyrine and an aromatic amine or phenol and a neutral to weakly acid buffer as well as other additives and reagents which form H.sub.2 O.sub.2 with the substrate and which are known for use in Trinder's reaction, the 4-aminoantipyrine, in the immiscible state before use, being separate from the acid buffer and from the other reagents if any, and being mixed with a small amount of an alkaline buffer having a pH of 8.5 to 14.0, the two compositions being combined, in a quantity ratio to one another that is suitable for the detection test, in a single package or in a single-use unit.
