Patent number: 5436406Abstract: An instrument housing for industrial electronic systems includes a closed body provided with a front opening. An exchangeable frontal frame having a U-shaped profile is provided at the front opening and is equipped with a covering strip provided with a step and with a flashing strip provided with a groove as well as with shaped-on pins for fastening it to a frame strip of the body. If the frontal frame is attached, the step sealingly grips around the edge formed by the frame strip and the body, and an angled knife-edge strip attached at an acute angle to the frame strip of the body engages into the groove.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1993Date of Patent: July 25, 1995Assignee: Schroff GmbHInventors: H. Bernd Benz, Paul Mazura, Hans M. Schwenk

Patent number: 5402323Abstract: An equipment cabinet for insertable electrical and electronic units includes stationary casing components and a door pivotally attached by means of hinges. The door and the end faces of the casing components disposed opposite thereto are each provided with peripheral edge strips which are bent inwardly at an acute angle of preferably 45.degree. and have parallel sealing faces that face one another at a slight distance. Between the sealing faces, spring-elastic seals are provided that may be composed of contact strips of an electrically well conducting material and rubber-elastic sealing strips arranged parallel thereto. Due to the sloped arrangement of the sealing faces, the spring forces F exerted by the seals are divided into two force components F.sub.1 and F.sub.2, with only the one force component F.sub.1 having to be overcome when the door is pushed shut.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1992Date of Patent: March 28, 1995Assignee: Schroff GmbHInventors: Hans M. Schwenk, Kurt Pohl, Gerhard Huller

Patent number: 5313370Abstract: The present invention relates to fastening elements for guide rails at the support rails of a component carrier which is provided to accommodate printed circuit boards equipped with electrical components. The fastening elements are configured as U-shaped spring bars and include a fixed U leg attached to the underside of the guide rails and a free, resilient U leg which is oriented toward the longitudinal web of the support rails. The resilient U leg permits easy insertion of the guide rails into the support rails. The dimensions are such that, after insertion of the guide rails, the resilient U leg stands on the longitudinal web and thus the guide rails are tightly locked against being pulled out.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1992Date of Patent: May 17, 1994Assignee: Schroff GmbHInventors: Hans M. Schwenk, Friedrich Werling, Hans-Ulrich Guther

Patent number: 5294748Abstract: In an equipment cabinet equipped with a rack for electronic and electrical insertable units, all casing components, including side walls, a rear wall, a door, a top and a bottom, are provided with mating contact faces along the component edges so as to provide a shield against electromagnetic radiation. Contact strips made of an electrically well conducting material are arranged between these contact faces.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1992Date of Patent: March 15, 1994Assignee: Schroff GmbHInventors: Hans M. Schwenk, Kurt Pohl, Gerhard Huller

Patent number: 5267658Abstract: The present invention relates to a fastening device for component carriers in system housings. Profiled fastening members are here fastened to the front frame bars of the system housings, each supporting two parallel arranged and oppositely oriented mounting strips. L-shaped mounting brackets provided with fastening threads can be pushed transversely into the mounting groove formed by the mounting strips. A spread-away spring element is fastened to the backs of the L-shaped mounting brackets. If the mounting angles are in the inserted installed position, a retaining lug engages in a longitudinal groove of the front mounting strip. The mounting brackets can be adjusted to any desired height. The front plate of the component carrier is screwed to four mounting brackets and, after the fastening screws are tightened, the component carrier is fastened at the desired height.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1992Date of Patent: December 7, 1993Assignee: Schroff GmbHInventors: Hans M. Schwenk, Henning Wick

Patent number: 5256833Abstract: A metal housing for electronic devices configured for electromagnetic compatibility includes a housing body whose opening can be closed by a closing element. Metal contact faces are provided around the opening at the housing body and correspondingly at the closing element. Thin contact strips of electrically conductive and corrosion resistant metal are applied to the contact faces. These contact strips may be subsequently melted or welded on by means of a laser beam as a weld trace or as a thin metal foil. To seal the groove between the housing body and the closing element against interfering electromagnetic radiation, the contact faces are brought into a good electrically conductive connection with one another by way of the bare metal surfaces of the contact strips applied thereonto, for example by means of an intermediately disposed elastic and electrically conductive seal.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 1992Date of Patent: October 26, 1993Assignee: Schroff GmbHInventor: Hans M. Schwenk

Patent number: 5037317Abstract: The invention relates to a grounding element 1 for fastening to an aluminum component 11 and including a corrosion insensitive and wear resistant contact element 3 for the connection of a ground cable 13. In order not to adversely influence the visual impression of the aluminum component 11, the grounding element 1 includes a basic aluminum body 2 which can be welded to the aluminum component 11 and is connected mechanically and electrically with the contact element 3.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1990Date of Patent: August 6, 1991Assignee: Schroff GmbHInventors: Hans M. Schwenk, Hans-Ulrich Gunther, Klaus Kern

Patent number: 4961712Abstract: The present invention relates to a mechanical and electrical connection between an extruded metal profile and a cast metal member. The cast member is provided with a peglike projection which is adapted to the interior configuration of the extruded profile and is insertable into the extruded profile. In order to realize a connection which is reliable even under mechanical stresses, which does not interfere with the subsequent lacquering and burn-in processes and which, moreover, is invisible, the invention provides that a spring of a hardness greater than both the extruded profile and the cast member is disposed between mutually facing faces of the extruded profile and the cast member. Barbs are shaped onto the cast member so as to engage in both components.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1989Date of Patent: October 9, 1990Assignee: Schroff GmbHInventors: Hans M. Schwenk, Hans-Ulrich Gunther, Michael Joist

Patent number: 4869678Abstract: A plug-in module intended for insertion into component carrier for electronic devices. The module is composed of: a circuit board for supporting electronic and electrical components; a face plate having two longitudinal edges which are fastened at a right angle to the circuit board by means of a bracket; and an extractor including a gripping member which projects from the face plate and has two projecting parallel side walls having bearing holes therein for receiving coaxial hinge pins located in the plane of the face plate so that the extractor is pivotal on the coaxial hinge pins. The longitudinal edges of the face plate have two oppositely disposed recesses for engaging the side walls of the extractor so that the hinge pins are seated in the recesses. The side walls of the extractor may be an integral part of the extractor or separate pieces which are attached to the extractor.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 1988Date of Patent: September 26, 1989Assignee: Schroff Gesellschaft mit beschrankter HaftungInventors: Hans M.
