  • Patent number: 4803263
Abstract: Alkylated glycosyl fluorides free from hydroxyl groups can be prepared by converting glycosyl fluorides which still contain hydroxyl groups into the alkylated compounds in the manner of Williamson's ether synthesis in the presence of basic systems by means of alkylating agents.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 7, 1986
Date of Patent: February 7, 1989
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Joachim Thiem, Hans-Matthias Deger, Wolfram Fritsche-Lang, Matthias Kreuzer
  • Patent number: 4766207
Abstract: Polysaccharides built up from anhydroglucose are obtained when glucose or carbohydrates containing glucose as the monomer structural unit are condensed with polyhydric alcohols in hydrogen fluoride. The products may be used as water binding agents and water retaining agents, especially for dietetic foodstuffs.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 26, 1985
Date of Patent: August 23, 1988
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Hans-Matthias Deger, Rudiger Erckel, Raimund Franz, Wolfram Fritsche-Lang, Gert-Wolfhard von Rymon Lipinski, Merten Schlingmann
  • Patent number: 4751291
Abstract: Glycosyl halides which are O-acylated or O-alkylated at least in the 2-position are transhalogenated with alkali metal hydrogen difluorides in a polar-aprotic solvent and, if appropriate, the product is anomerized with the addition of less than the stoichiometric amounts of an inorganic fluoride with a Lewis acid character. Depending on the substrate, the glycosyl fluorides with the 1,2-trans or 1,2-cis configuration are obtained.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 12, 1986
Date of Patent: June 14, 1988
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Joachim Thiem, Hans-Matthias Deger, Wolfram Fritsche-Lang, Matthias Kreuzer
  • Patent number: 4749785
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of glycosides which comprises reacting a protected hexopyranosyl fluoride with an aglycon or a silyl ether thereof in the presence of a metal fluoride of group IV or V of the periodic table, said metal having an atomic number of at least 22 and being present in the fluoride in a higher, stable and non-oxidizing or weekly oxidizing stage.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 12, 1985
Date of Patent: June 7, 1988
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Joachim Thiem, Wolfram Fritsche-Lang, Merten Schlingmann, Hans-Matthias Deger, Matthias Kreuzer
  • Patent number: 4746615
Abstract: It is possible by use of a sterilizable fluidized bed fermenter to carry out low-moisture fermentations. Fluidizable granulated microorganisms are used for this fermentation under sterile conditions in the fluidized bed fermenter which is initially operated as a bubble column.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 28, 1987
Date of Patent: May 24, 1988
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Rainer Buchholz, Hans-Matthias Deger, Hartmut Voelskow, Rolf Woernle
  • Patent number: 4725520
Abstract: An electrophotographic recording material comprising an electrically conducting layer support, an optional insulating intermediate layer, a photoconductive layer comprising at least one dyestuff as charge carrier-generating compound, and a layer containing a binder and photoconductor as charge-transport compound contains, as dyestuff in the photoconductive layer, a benzo-benzimidazo[1,2a]-quinoline derivative, preferably one represented by the formula ##STR1## Use of the dyestuff, in combination with a wide variety of photoconductors and binders, yields materials with excellent electrophotographic properties.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 8, 1986
Date of Patent: February 16, 1988
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Wolfgang Wiedemann, Hans-Matthias Deger, Dieter Guenther
  • Patent number: 4659810
Abstract: 1-Azidoaldoses are obtained by reacting 1-fluoroaldoses with metal azides in polar, water-miscible, preferably water-containing, solvents. The hydroxyl groups do not react at the same time, so that they need not be protected or can be present in a derivatized form.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 28, 1985
Date of Patent: April 21, 1987
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Joachim Thiem, Hans-Matthias Deger, Cenek Kolar, Matthias Kreuzer
