  • Patent number: 7841588
Abstract: In order to provide a damping element (4) in compact form for transportation as an individual part of a dismantled stand (1) and to be able to push a support (11) into a tube (2) to fix it there, it is proposed that the support (11) is relatively, in particular vertically and telescopically, displaceable with respect to tube (2), in that damping element (4) is connected at a first end (19) on support (11) to a component (20) for holding the appliance, in that damping element (4) is held by tube (2), in that a second, opposite end (21) of damping element (4) protrudes out of tube (2) when damping element (4) is relaxed, in that the second end (21) of damping element (4) can be shifted onto tube (2) or into it when damping element (4) is compressed, and in that second end (21) can be fastened in this compressed state by a fixing element (22) to fix support (11) in its position shifted towards tube (2).

  • Publication number: 20070182075
Abstract: In the case of a stand (1) with a support (11), in particular for supporting a hairdressing appliance, and with a damping element (4) for damping the weight of the appliance, the appliance loading the damping element (4), the damping element (4) is resettable with regard to its length, and the support (11) can be shifted relative to a tube (2) and is fixable thereon in order to achieve a compact subassembly.

  • Patent number: 5818990
Abstract: An encapsulated optocomponent (1) comprises a single-crystal silicon wafer (3) and waveguides (9) located thereon, which at least partly are manufactured by means of process methods taken from the methods for manufacturing electronic integrated circuits. The waveguides (9) extend from an edge of the optoelectronic component (1) to an optoelectronic, active or passive component (11) attached to the surface of the silicon wafer (3). Over the region for connecting the waveguides (9) to the optoelectronic component (11) a transparent plastics material is molded (17), for instance an elastomer, having a refractive index adjusted to improve the optical coupling between the waveguides (9) and the optoelectronic component (11). The molding (17) covers advantageously all of said component (11) to also reduce thermal stresses between it and an exterior, protective layer (19) of a curable plastics material. The molded layer (17) can also cover the whole area of the waveguides (9) to form an upper cladding thereof.

  • Patent number: 4364599
Abstract: A truck, especially a large capacity vehicle or tractor semi-trailer combination including a motor-steering unit, which essentially includes the motor, the transmission, the axles, the wheels, and where applicable, a fifth wheel for a semi-trailer; a payload carrier or semi-trailer; and at least one vehicle control cab. The vehicle control cab and other additional structures respectively form separate units which are arranged on top of one another in any desired order and are firmly interconnected. The lowermost respective unit may be mounted on the motor-steering unit.

  • Patent number: 4355696
Abstract: Axle suspension for a road vehicle, particularly a motor bus, including a subframe arranged between the drive wheels and the vehicle body. The subframe encompasses a torsionally flexible, flexurally rigid cross support member having rigidly fastened thereto, in a cranklike manner proximate each end, an axial trailing link. The axial trailing links are pivotably supported on the vehicle body at their free ends, and the wheel bearings of the drive wheels are located at approximately the central region of the axial trailing links. A differential is fastened on the vehicle body.

  • Patent number: 4351408
Abstract: An articulated vehicle including a front member having at least two axles, the forwardmost one of which is steerable, and a rear member, connected to the front member by a pivotal joint, having at least one axle and an engine for driving that axle. A first transducer produces a signal representative of the angle between the steerable axle and another axle of the front member, and a second transducer produces a signal representative of the buckling angle between the vehicle members. A comparator receives the transducer signals and produces a signal in the event that the actual buckling angle is less or greater than a theoretical buckling angle, the latter being determined by the signal from the first transducer. A device, such as a piston and cylinder device, responds to the comparator signal by producing a torque about the pivotal joint to increase or decrease, as the case may be, the actual buckling angle so that it approaches the theoretical buckling angle.

  • Patent number: 4213945
Abstract: Industrial waste gases containing sulfur dioxide, hydrogen fluoride, hydrochloric acid and sulfur trioxide are treated within a reaction tank in a first stage with a solution containing ammonium ions to increase the dew point of the gases. The gases are then cooled below the elevated dew point in a second stage below which a deflector system directs the gases along the wall of the reaction tank into a third stage where the gases are cooled by a spray mist of an ammonia mixture to form ammonium salts. The gases are then treated in a fourth stage at the bottom of the reaction tank with the solution containing ammonium ions to precipitate ammonium salts into a reservoir below the reaction tank. Purified waste gases are discharged into a cooler where a stripper removes entrained droplets of liquid before discharge into the atmosphere. The droplet size of the solution sprayed into the second stage is larger than the droplet size of the solution sprayed into the first stage.

  • Patent number: 4099102
Abstract: A high shelf feeding apparatus is movable on rollers riding on rails. It is moved either by motor driven friction gear drive means or by a linear motor means. In either case, the drive elements are operated at the same acceleration or at the same number of revolutions by connecting each drive element with a regulating mechanism which measures the distance travelled by each drive element and then balances each such measured distance in relation to a rated value common to all regulating mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 4005016
Abstract: This disclosure pertains to an apparatus within a container wherein solid particles of the type that form a sediment in a liquid, are withdrawn from a liquid-filled processing chamber at the upper side of a funnel-shaped plate into a liquid-filled collecting chamber below the plate. In one embodiment, the funnel-shaped plate includes a central discharge nozzle that forms an annular discharge gap by extending downwardly within the side walls of a bell-shaped chamber that is inverted and contains a mushroom-shaped distributor supported above its bottom wall by a liquid supply pipe. The top surface of the mushroom-shaped distributor has a conical shape with the apex extending upwardly to the terminal end of the discharge nozzle.

  • Patent number: 3982787
Abstract: The present passenger car has front seats and rear seats and includes means for adjusting both seats back and forth along the longitudinal axis of the passenger vehicle. For this purpose the rear seat is guided on tracks, preferably tracks which have a portion rising in the forward direction. The rear back rest is hinged at its lower edge or end to the rear edge of the rear seat proper. The top edge of the rear back seat is guided in substantially vertical guide rails, whereby it is possible to tilt the back rest relative to the horizontal in the manner of a reclining chair simultaneously with the longitudinal adjustment of the rear seat or seats.
