  • Patent number: 8341925
Abstract: A method of packing and, for purposes of extending its shelf-life, heat treating a food product in a packaging container of paper or paperboard. The packaging container is first filled wholly or at least partly with foam containing a non-oxidizing gas, such as nitrogen, whereafter the wholly or partly filled packaging container is filled with the pertinent food product. After this filling, the packaging container is, where necessary, filled with additional foam to ensure the headspace above the product level in the packaging container is entirely filled with foam when the packaging container is closed and sealed by thermosealing. The closed packaging container filled with product and foam is thereafter subjected to the heat treatment for purposes of extending its shelf-life at a treatment temperature of at least 115° C.

  • Patent number: 6692684
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method and an apparatus for producing a sterile packaging container from a thermoplastic blank or preform which, during stepwise displacement between different processing stations (A-H), is subjected to a first heating to a temperature suitable for a subsequent sterilization with the aid of a chemical sterilization agent in gas form. A subsequent, additional heating stage imparts to the blank the desired moulding temperature, whereafter the blank, after displacement to a blow moulding station, is blow moulded to the desired configuration with the aid of mould halves (9) surrounding the blank. Hereafter, the blank is displaced to a filling station (E) in which it is filled with the desired contents in order thereafter finally to be sealed with the aid of a wafer (17) and discharged out of the apparatus according to the present invention.

  • Patent number: 5707024
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for the parallel displacement of a material web (1) are disclosed, in that the material web (1) is, between two driven bending rollers (6,8), caused to form a freely depending bight or loop (11) whose lower end is read-off by a sensing device (12). The sensing device (12) controls the speed of the first bending roller (6), while the second bending roller (8) is driven at constant speed.

  • Patent number: 4908091
Abstract: A splicing device for packaging webs comprises a dual magazine shiftable between an on-line position and a stand-by position. Both magazines can hold a web. When the web held in the on-line position is exhausted, the magazine is shifted and the web from the stand-by position can be used while the exhausted web is replaced. A joining unit is provided for each magazine to connect the end of an exhausted web with the end of a new web. A cutting unit is positioned at the on-line position for cutting a web in use whereby a new web may be joined thereto in an aligned manner. A feeding unit is provided upstream of the cutting unit and includes a crease wheel for feeding and folding the web. Another cutting unit is provided upstream of the feeding unit for severing the web in desired package lengths. The splicing device enables rapid joining of webs with a minimum of labor.

  • Patent number: 4792069
Abstract: Pouring edges in the form of projecting material strips are used on packing containers for e.g. liquid foodstuffs. The pouring edge is generally covered by a tear-off cover strip 6 which also serves as a closure for a pouring opening 7. In order to prevent the pouring edge strip 8 from being torn off or deformed at the removal of the cover strip 6, the same is given a z-folded form and is joined to the outside of the packing container in two sealing areas situated at a distance from each other, the doubled area located in between projecting from the packing container and guiding the out-flowing liquid.

  • Patent number: 4782646
Abstract: In the manufacture of aseptic packing containers from weblike laminate material, the material usually is brought into contact with a liquid sterilizing agent which, after a certain treatment period, is removed again. In order to avoid any accumulation of residues of sterilizing agent behind lugs, opening strips or the like a method and an arrangement for finishing an opening arrangement (2) on a packing container (1) are proposed, according to which an external gripping element (3) is placed over the opening region (4) only after the packing container (1) has been filled with the desired contents and has been closed. This is achieved with the help of a sealing unit (9) with a vacuum device (10) and a gas-permeable striplike gripping element (3).
