  • Patent number: 7487625
Abstract: A method for packaging a good by means of a package formed of a shrinkable lower film 7 and an upper film 10 is provided. The lower film may be deep-drawn to form a container for accommodating the good, and after filling in the good, an upper film may be supplied for covering. The such-formed package is sealed and then may be subjected to shrinking in an evacuating and sealing station. Consecutively to the evacuating and sealing, an additional shrinking may be performed by subjecting the package to heat from all sides, so as to remove the film section having developed between the part of the lower and the upper film directly resting against the good and the sealing rim 16. A corresponding device for executing the method is indicated.

  • Patent number: 6698165
Abstract: A packaging machine is described. A plurality of working stations is arranged between the input side and output side of the machine. A conveyor moves packages carrying a product along a path from the input side to the output side through the working stations. A device feeds a cover film onto the packages. The cover film has two layers bonded together with a limited bonding strength. A first layer has a portion protruding beyond said second layer. Another device separates the first layer from the second layer in a defined region extending across the cover film transversely to the conveyor path. The separator seals the defined region of the cover film and supplies a pressurized fluid to said defined region. The defined region includes at least part of the protruding portion of the first layer. A method of using the packaging machine to package product also is described along with the package that is made.

  • Patent number: 6282866
Abstract: A packaging machine comprises a base frame having an input side and an output side as well as a transport path from the input side to the output side. A plurality of tray carriers for holding trays are arranged in succession from the input side to the output side along the transport path. A drive means advances the tray carriers in an advancement plane. Further, feed means are provided for feeding a cover film for covering the filled trays. Successive tray carriers are pivotally interconnected by means of pivoting coupling links. Each tray carrier has engagement elements provided at its forward and rearward side. The drive means is formed as a drive chain with a chain strand trained over chain wheels and the engagement elements engage the chain strand when in a position adjacent thereto.
