  • Patent number: 5461889
Abstract: A plastic spacer ring for spacing apart and sealing plastic dye tubes during yarn package dyeing. Each plastic spacer ring has an annular groove on both its upper and lower surface for receiving an end face of a dye tube. Each groove has an open top and a closed bottom with the width of the open top greater than, and the width at the closed bottom less than the predetermined wall thickness of the plastic dye tube body. This construction provides tangential contact between the end faces of the plastic dye tubes on both side walls of the annular groove, which in turn, provides two seals substantially continuously about the circumference of the end face of the dye tube.

  • Patent number: 5170961
Abstract: A textile yarn carrier adapted to receive a yarn tail at the base thereof without breaking the yarn tail. The yarn carrier includes a body having an outer face about which yarn may be wrapped, an inner face, and an annular face at its bottom end. A plurality of adjacent, circumferentially oriented, semielliptical depressions are formed in the bottom face of the yarn carrier. Each depression extends from the outer face, radially across the bottom face, and upwardly along and into the inner face. In the preferred embodiment, the depressions are uniform in size and are spaced generally evenly around the periphery of the body, so that the bottom and inner faces of the yarn carrier are adapted to guide and receive a yarn tail in at least one yarn protecting depression on each side of the body. An end holder cap for mating with the bottom end of the textile yarn carrier is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5024349
Abstract: A dispenser comprising an elongate rigid hollow cylindrical tube including opposed ends and a transverse elongate dispensing slot laterally therethrough at a midpoint along the length thererof. The dispensing slot includes opposed serrated edges with the teeth of each edge overlapping the teeth of the other edge to provide for restricted passage of film bags pulled outwardly through the dispensing slot from the interior of the tube. The opposed ends of the dispensing slot are enlarged and smooth-edged for access to interior bags and cooperation with the serrated edges in providing for projecting leading bag corners.

  • Patent number: 4901940
Abstract: This invention relates to a lightweight plastic yarn carrier adapted to receive yarn wound thereon to form a yarn package. The yarn carrier is comprised of a hollow conical tube with a reinforced end portion at one end of the tube. The end is formed of an annular end wall extending radially in from the end of the tube and an annular flange extending inwardly toward the opposite end of the tube from the inner periphery of the end wall. The peripheral wall, end wall and annular flange collectively define an inside annular channel within the carrier. The reinforcement of the end portion is comprised of a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart ribs extending across the inside annular channel and at least one circumferential rim extending from the end wall and circumferentially around the inside annular channel to reinforce the end portion of the carrier. With this reinforcement arrangement, the end wall better resists impact on the end and further prevents the spread of damage that may be incurred.

  • Patent number: 4889294
Abstract: This invention is directed to a yarn carrier with means for visually indicating the type of yarn wound onto the carrier. In particular the indicator is a color coded ring which is received in a channel at the end of the yarn carrier. This arrangement provides a clear visible indication of the type of yarn on the carrier while not adding to the length or diameter of the carrier. As such the critical dimensions of the carrier are assured while providing a simple convenient indication of the type of yarn.

  • Patent number: 4852823
Abstract: This invention relates to a yarn carrier with means for catching the end of a yarn and also for providing an identification of a particular characteristic of the yarn. The catching and identifying means comprises a radially extending opening through the peripheral wall of the yarn carrier arranged to receive a color coded insert. The combination of the insert and the opening additionally form oppositely directed yarn engaging notches for catching and retaining the free end of the yarn to be wound on the carrier.

  • Patent number: 4828200
Abstract: A universal yarn carrier is disclosed which is adapted to have an advancing yarn effectively wound thereon, when used on either a P-wind or a Q-wind machine. The yarn carrier comprises a molded plastic tube having an external cylindrical surface, and at least one yarn catching means integrally formed on the exterior surface adjacent one end thereof. The yarn catching means is adapted to catch and anchor one or more of the initial yarn windings so as to prevent axial slippage thereof, and the yarn catching means comprises an annular depression, and an extension extending in the longitudinal direction across a portion of the depression so as to define a tip at the free end of the extension for engaging the yarn being wound upon the carrier.
