  • Patent number: 5965239
Abstract: A casing for a drive unit has a casing base body which is sealed by means of a cover unit. The casing base body consists of plastic, while the cover is produced from metal. It is desirable to form the edge of the casing in such a manner that the cover is supported on the casing base body in a flat manner. Since, within molding technology, there are a few difficulties in forming a continuous edge, a number of elevations, which serve as a support surface for the cover, jut out onto the edge of the cover. By means of a finishing of the casting mold, it can be achieved, in a simple manner, that the sealing surfaces of the elevations come to lie in one plane. The sealing of the casing cover relative to the casing base body is carried out by way of a sealing unit which is supported on the edge of the casing and leaves the elevations free.

  • Patent number: 5469757
Abstract: In a windshield wiper drive for a vehicle, the wiper spindle performs a rotational movement to-and-fro. In order that the inversion of motion does not take place all of a sudden but in a cushioned manner, a part-pinion with a pinion gap is realized when one tooth of the part-pinion is engaged by a cushioning stop member of a spring element. Reciprocally, another tooth strikes against an associated stop member shortly after the inversion of motion. The spring element is elastically deflected in the final phase of the rotational movement and thereby cushions the part-pinion. The spring element is preferably fastened to the gearing cover.

  • Patent number: 5182957
Abstract: The present invention relates to a drive unit, in particular for a windshield wiper system on a motor vehicle, comprising a drive motor, a gearing accommodated in a gear housing and following the drive motor, which gearing has an output shaft driven in pendulum fashion and a pinion seated on it in a manner protected against twisting as well as including a stop member for limiting the pendulum angle of the output shaft. The stop member is either swivellable with the pinion or firmly arranged on the output shaft. In order to obtain a good guidance and a reliable hold of the stop member it is pushed upon the output shaft by means of a ring-shaped portion. In particular the ring-shaped portion can simultaneously serve as a buffer disc for the pinon, so that in comparison with a known drive unit, piece parts can be saved.
