  • Patent number: 4990267
Abstract: An anhydrous preparation for finishing sewing yarn and sewing thread is disclosed. The preparation essentially consists of 65 to 99% by weight of a dimethylpolysiloxane with a viscosity of 50 to 10,000 mm.sup.2 /S.sup.-1 at 25.degree. C. and a hydroxyl content of 0.3 to 1.5% by weight and 1 to 30% by weight of a fatty acid or a fatty amine with, on the average, 8 to 18 carbon atoms and, optionally, 0 to 5% by weight of conventional additives. The preparation are easy to prepare and have an unlimited shelf life and a constant viscosity even over a prolonged period of storage. The preparation confer low thread tension, decreased yarn breakage and improved stick-slip properties on the sewing yarn and thread.

  • Patent number: 4678599
Abstract: For demulsifying water containing crude oil, copolymers are used which are obtained by copolymerizing one or several polyoxyalkylene ether(s) of allyl and/or methallyl alcohol with vinyl esters of lower carboxylic acids or mixtures of vinyl esters of lower carboxylic acids with up to 50 mole percent of esters of acrylic or methacrylic acid or ethers of allyl or methallyl alcohol and fatty alcohols, the quotient of the average molecular weight of the polyoxyalkylene ethers corresponding to their molar fraction and the number of moles of the compounds to be copolymerized being 20 to 200, as demulsifiers for water containing crude oil.

  • Patent number: 4578116
Abstract: Compounds of the formula ##STR1## whereby, in the average molecule, 20 to 100% of the R.sup.1 radicals are ##STR2## in which R.sup.2 is an alkylphenyl, dialkylphenyl or trialkylphenyl radical and the sum of the alkyl carbon atom per phenyl radical is 6 to 12, a=1 to 2; and0 to 80% of the R.sup.1 radicals are ##STR3## in which R.sup.3 is an alkyl radical with 1 to 16 carbon atoms, an organoacyl radical with 1 to 12 carbon atoms, or an aryl radical, b=1 to 2, c=1 to 30, andn=3 to 30, as well as melt spinning finishes comprising5 to 100 weight percent of the compounds of claim 1,0 to 90 weight percent of nonpolar or weakly polar oils,0 to 30 weight percent of nonionic surfactants,0 to 15 weight percent of ionic surfactants, and optional conventional additives, the sum of the components being 100 weight percent.

  • Patent number: 4476282
Abstract: A method of producing finely divided, stable oil-in-water emulsions of organopolysiloxanes is disclosed. The condensation and/or polymerization of lower molecular organosilicon compounds is carried out in a paste which consists of the organosilicon compounds, the amount of emulsifier required for preparing the emulsion and an amount of water equal to 0.5 to 3 times the weight of the emulsifier. This transparent to weakly opaque paste is then stirred in water in order to form an emulsion.

  • Patent number: 4434008
Abstract: Materials for substantively preparing yarns or plied yarns, especially sewing threads and preferably those of polyester, in the form of an oil/water dispersion are disclosed. The materials contain 5 to 80 weight percent of silicone oil of a viscosity of 500 to 50,000 mm.sup.2 /sec at 25.degree. C., 10 to 80 weight percent of wax with a melting point not less than 40.degree. C., 1 to 10 weight percent of fatty acids with 6 to 22 carbon atoms, 0.4 to 12 weight percent of cationic imidazolinium salts and 0 to 10 weight percent of ethoxylated fatty amines, dissolved or dispersed in water, the sum of the components having to add up to 100 weight percent. The production of this preparation is also disclosed. The inventive preparation materials have a good and uniform substantivity and bring about uniform reduction in friction over a long length of yarn and for different speeds of the running thread.

  • Patent number: 4405328
Abstract: The invention relates to an aqueous preparation for shrinkproofing wool, which contains, as active ingredient, organopolysiloxanes of a particular structure with mercaptoalkyl or mercaptoaryl radicals and hydrogen atoms. The preparation is storage-stable and causes no yellowing in naturally colored or white wool. The hand of the wool is not disadvantageously affected.

  • Patent number: 4217228
Abstract: A textile fiber finish composed of 1 to 99 percent by weight of silico-organic compounds having the formula ##STR1## and 99 to 1 percent by weight of conventional finish components. This finish exhibits good lubricating properties at high temperatures and does not leave residues or oils on high temperature texturizing and fiber treating equipment.
