  • Publication number: 20080255671
Abstract: A joint device is disclosed for use as a prosthesis in a human or animal body. The joint device comprises a T-shaped member having a transverse pin fixedly connected to a column member and a pair of transverse sleeves configured to receive the pin and allow the pin to rotate about its longitudinal axis within the sleeves. The sleeves engage a bore in a first bone and the column member is coupled to a second bone so that the first and second bones are pivotably interconnected by the joint device. The sleeves are compressible so as to allow multi-directional movement of the bones in the joint.

  • Publication number: 20080041399
Abstract: An inflatable sterile enclosure is disclosed comprising a flexible membrane and at least a pair of rigid or semi-rigid panels which are arranged to pivot outwardly relative to one another on each side of the enclosure as it is inflated. At least one of the panels is transparent and provides a window. The enclosure is preferably inflatable by a pressurised gas source. The flexible membrane may comprise a plurality of support members arranged to define a support frame for the enclosure when erected. The support members may themselves be inflatable. Peripheral sterile enclosures and surgical docks or drapes comprising bactericidal substances are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7297165
Abstract: Joint prostheses are provided which may be used to replace, for example, knee, elbow or ankle joints. A knee prosthesis comprises a pin and a pivoting member. The pin bridges a gap between a medial condyle and lateral condyle of a femur. The pivoting member is positioned in the gap and the pin passes through the pivoting member to secure it in position and to allow it to pivot about the pin. The pin and pivoting member of the prosthesis represent a mechanically convenient system which is able to replace the function of a joint and can be positioned with less trauma to the joint whose function they replace than prostheses according to the prior art.
