  • Patent number: 4836468
Abstract: An improved creel for machines processing yarn consisting of creel components mounted verically above each other. Creel components are mounted off set above each other to guide yarn between creel component and horizontal creel extension to machine processing yarn. Creel component can rotate to guide one yarn to machine processing yarn or blocked to guide two yarns to machine processing yarn. Storage feeders can be mounted on creel. Improved guidance of yarn with less friction, improved connection of yarn from package to package and holding creel component in stationary position are improved features of this creel for machines processing yarn.

  • Patent number: 4545547
Abstract: A creel component and a creel manufactured of several such components for textile yarn packages is illustrated having four arms with each arm having a yarn package holder at the end thereof. At a point central to said yarn package holders is a component with at least one yarn guide for the pulling of yarn from the yarn packages mounted on said holders. Above said yarn guides are a yarn tension device, a yarn stop motion, and additional yarn guides. The disclosed arrangement provides for yarn packages positioned closely together with simplified yarn flow so as to produce a creel with compact dimensions.

  • Patent number: 4399957
Abstract: A holder for positioning yarn packages as upon creels and the like, is illustrated wherein the yarn packages each include a carrier having an outwardly extending lip wherein the lip is received in wedging engagement between a pair of supports at a single point or position about the circumference of the lip.

  • Patent number: 4307850
Abstract: A yarn tensioning device is illustrated employing longitudinally spaced stacks of transverse cylindrical rollers, the lowermost of which open upon a yarn passageway for exerting tension upon the yarn at spaced points along the yarn path which extends longitudinally beneath the rollers, wherein an upwardly extending passageway opens laterally and is defined by an upwardly extending member and an overhanging flange so that the yarn may be conveniently fed under the ends of the lowermost rollers which project into the passageway and then into the yarn passageway and retained therein during tensioning.

  • Patent number: 4165056
Abstract: A tensioning device is illustrated wherein a plurality of longitudinally aligned upright receptacles carry stacked rollers the lowermost of which is driven by the passage of yarn thereunder. A vertical yarn passageway is carried in at least one end of the housing forming an end receptacle to permit a change of direction in the yarn to cause up and down roller movement to compensate for changes in tension in the yarn as well as alternate yarn paths. Passageways are provided in the housing adjacent the pairs of rollers so as to permit expulsion of lint from the receptacles which is promoted by turning of the rolls. Magnetic means may be carried beneath the device for varying the force exerted by the rollers on the strand and the magnetic means may be varied for this purpose. Detector means such as photo-electric devices may be utilized for detecting variation in the turning of the rollers to act as a stop motion for the machine utilizing the tensioning device.

  • Patent number: 4095757
Abstract: A yarn tension device is illustrated wherein a concave arcuate surface defines an indentation extending across and below a yarn channel forming an arcuate interruption in the yarn channel for receiving an arcuate rotatable element for rotation by the yarn as it moves through the yarn channel. It is further contemplated that a housing provide an upright receptacle for receiving a number of rotatable elements for rotation by the yarn utilizing the force required to rotate the rotatable elements for tensioning the yarn. A number of receptacles receiving rotatable elements may be provided in spaced aligned relation to vary the amount and mode of tension application. A side opening yarn entrance passageway is contemplated for self-threading the yarn beneath a rotatable element.
