  • Patent number: 5001963
Abstract: A differential pressure piston-combustion chamber system for barreled or tube-firing weapons or guns with a regeneratively-actuated propellant injection device for the generation of propellant gases of liquid, in particular hypergolic propellant components. A differential pressure piston is arranged so as to be axially movably in the weapon housing coaxially relative to the weapon barrel, with the piston incorporating propellant infeed passageways as well as a loading piston which is in communication with filling passageways. In the cylindrical shaft of the differential pressure piston, there is concentrically arranged a charging piston which is movably axially relative thereto, where the free end is in communication with infeed passageways, and the differential pressure piston and the charging piston are provided with control rolls which, respectively, roll along as associated control cam track on a drum controller.

  • Patent number: 4993310
Abstract: A sealing arrangement for differential pressure piston-combustion chamber systems, which serve for the generation of propellant gases for barreled firearms from liquid, in particular hypergolic propellant components (hypergolic diergoles), and which are constructed with a differential pressure piston or ram located in the weapon housing, which is axially movable in coaxial relationship with the weapon barrel, and which includes a support piston projecting into the hollow shaft of the differential pressure piston, as well as propellant infeed and propellant discharge passageways. The combustion chamber which connects to the weapon barrel widens conically at a relatively flat angle, and in which the head of the differential pressure piston (injector), which is provided with overflow passageways and nozzles, has its external contour correlated with the cone of the combustion chamber. Hereby, the conically-shaped outer wall or shell surface of the injector can incorporate annular recesses, grooves or the like.

  • Patent number: 4852461
Abstract: An armored vehicle with an overhead or top-mounted cannon or barreled weapon, which is supported in a forked cradle support so as to be elevatable about a bearing trunnion axis, and which includes an arrangement for the storge of the ammunition and the conveyance of the ammunition from a main storage magazine and from an auxiliary storage magazine. A vertically standing projectile loading tube or barrel is rotatable about its longitudinal axis, whose longitudinal axis concurrently consists of the azimuthal or bearing axis of the barreled weapon, and which, in the position of rest of the barreled weapon, intersects at one point with trunnion axis and the tilting axis of the rotary shell or projectile chamber of the barreled weapon. Hereby, independently of the elevation of the barreled weapon, the shell or projectile chamber is movable into a vertical position extending coaxially with the loading tube.

  • Patent number: 4004363
Abstract: A rotatable cartridge chamber for a firearm type weapon in which the chamber is rotatable in the weapon at the rear end of the barrel and has cartridge chambers therein. The chamber receives cartridges from a magazine parallel to and adjacent the barrel in one rotated position and in another rotated position presents the cartridges projectile end foremost to the rear end of the barrel.

  • Patent number: 3994235
Abstract: A powder element for ammunition not having a shell formed from a cup-shaped pressed propellant powder block with a priming agent mounted on the bottom wall thereof within the cavity defined by the cup-shaped block, and an anvil type propellant charge block, which extends at least partially into the cavity in a substantially mating relationship and abuts the priming agent.

  • Patent number: 3986431
Abstract: A tubular firearm in which a striker is guided in the bore of a bottom section of the cartridge chamber housing while the bottom section has a longitudinal bore therein with a chamber for receiving and storing a viscous fluid. A striker is reciprocable in the longitudinal bore and is provided with recess means while means, for instance a cam, is operatively connected to the striker for moving the same from a starting position to a striking position. The arrangement is such that when the striker occupies its starting position, the recess means are located within the region of the chamber adapted to receive and store viscous fluid. According to an embodiment of the invention, the striker is connected with an impact member through a joint having three degrees of freedom.

  • Patent number: 3985059
Abstract: A weapon having a tiltable cartridge chamber with sealing rings at opposite ends of the cartridge chamber for sealing engagement with the weapon barrel and with a head. A clamping lever is tiltably mounted on the chamber and is connected to the sealing rings for movement of the sealing rings to and from sealing position. A compensating mechanism is interposed between the lever and the sealing rings so that when one sealing ring seats, movement of the lever can continue and advance the other ring into seated position.
