  • Patent number: 4702790
Abstract: A fuel filter includes a housing made of plastics and having a main housing portion accommodating a filter element, and a cover. The housing portions are tightly connected to each other at a single ring-shaped glue spot. The housing portion is formed with a pocket filled with glue and the cover is formed with a collar partially projecting into the pocket to form an annular Z-shaped gap in which the glue is distributed. When the glue is solidified the housing and the cover become rigidly and tightly connected to each other. The shape of the gap protects the glue against aggressive fuel.

  • Patent number: 4683055
Abstract: A diesel fuel filter, which is arranged in a conduit between a fuel tank and a fuel injection pump, comprises a housing accommodating a filter element and a cover non-releasably connected to the housing. A temperature-responsive switching device for switching fuel overflow quantities from the pump to the tank as well as a ventilation device are positioned in a chamber formed by a protruding formation of the cover and a flat plate connected to the housing. A plate shaped pressure control valve, which opens into a contaminated side of the filter element, connects that side to the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4585022
Abstract: An arrangement for cleaning fuel has a housing, a deflecting member in the housing and forming an annular gap extending between a fuel inlet and a fuel outlet and also a water storing chamber separated from the fuel inlet, and electrical water-level-indicating device including a rod-shaped impulse generator extending through the deflecting member into the interior of the water storing chamber and a one-piece float located in the water storing chamber and cooperating with the impulse generator, and a water discharge device provided with a throttle valve which includes a water discharge opening in the bottom of the housing and a throttle valve member cooperating with the water discharge opening, wherein the float forms the throttle member and has a guide opening and a closing surface cooperating with the water discharge opening, the guide opening goes completely through the float and the rod-shaped impulse generator extends into the throughgoing guide opening in condition of the closed throttle valve so as to g

  • Patent number: 4574762
Abstract: In a device for temperature responsive switching of overflow fuel quantities from a diesel fuel injection pump to a fuel supply tank or a filter of a fuel supply system a switching valve, arranged between the fuel injection pump and the tank, is actuated by a bimetallic element. Parallel to the switching valve is provided a throttle for continuous air venting. A pressure control valve with a low opening pressure is installed in the connection between the switching valve and the filter. The heated overflow fuel quantities are mixed with cool fuel from the tank and therefore the danger of clogging of the filter, which could be caused by paraffin separation, is substantially reduced.

  • Patent number: 4039457
Abstract: A strip of filter material is folded so as to form two closely adjacent strip portions which are of one piece and have aligned longitudinally extending free edges and longitudinally extending second edges transversely spaced from the free edges and unitary with one another. The strip is coiled so that each of the strip portions forms a plurality of convolutions which alternate with the convolutions of the other strip portion. Means is provided in the region of the second edges for preventing liquid being filtered from forcing contaminant particles through the filter material.

  • Patent number: 4021342
Abstract: A filter for liquid fuels wherein a flanged end portion of the metallic case for filter elements is embedded in or bonded to the reinforced open end of a transparent injection-molded plastic cup. The connection includes an elastic plastic liner which may constitute a barrier against any direct contact between the cup and the case or is disposed between the inner side of the end portion of the case and a raised annular portion of the open end of the cup. The liner compensates for differences between the thermal expansion coefficients of the materials of the case and cup and insures that the connection is not only leakproof but also resistant to relatively high fluid pressures in the filter. If the end portion of the case is bonded to the open end of the cup, it has an inwardly extending collar which overlies a bead of the open end; the liner then consists of hot melt and fills a gap between the inner side of the collar and the adjacent shoulder of the bead.
