Abstract: Novel 3-phenyl-7-(v-triazol-2-yl)-coumarins of the formula ##STR1## wherein R represents hydrogen, unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkanyol, aroyl, aralkyl, alkoxycarbonyl, carbamoyl or v-epoxyalkyl, the rings A, B and C being optionally substituted with further non-chromophoric substituents, processes for their preparation as well as a process for optically brightening organic material on using said compounds are disclosed.

Abstract: Novel 4-(v-triazolyl)-styryl compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein n is 0, 1 or 2, R represents a hydrogen atom or an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl, alkanoyl or aroyl group and Q represents an unsubstituted or substituted 5-membered heterocyclic ring or, if n is 1 or 2, also represents hydrogen, the rings A, B and C being optionally substituted with further non-chromophoric substituents, processes for their preparation as well as a process for optically brightening organic materials on using said compounds are disclosed.

Abstract: Stilbene compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R denotes the radical ##STR2## and wherein the rings A, B, C, D and E can carry non-chromophoric substituents are useful for the optical brightening of organic materials.

Abstract: The present invention relates to new coumarine derivatives in which coumarine residues substituted in 7-position or 5,6-benzo-coumarine residues are further substituted in 3-position by optionally further substituted 2-phenyl-triazol-4-yl 2- or 1-phenyl-pyrazol-4-yl.The new compounds are useful optical brighteners for organic materials.
