  • Patent number: 8098907
Abstract: A local adaptive method is proposed for automatic detection of microaneurysms in a digital ocular fundus image. Multiple subregions of the image are automatically analyzed and adapted to local intensity variation and properties. A priori region and location information about structural features such as vessels, optic disk and hard exudates are incorporated to further improve the detection accuracy. The method effectively improves the specificity of microaneurysms detection, without sacrificing sensitivity. The method may be used in automatic level-one grading of diabetic retinopathy screening.

  • Patent number: 7558427
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for analyzing image processing procedures, in which unprocessed original image data is stored, stored original image data is retrieved, retrieved original image data is processed, the individual processing steps during the processing of the image data are in some instances stored together with the respective processing step parameter values, and the processed image data is stored such that it can be assigned to the processing steps stored during its processing and in some instances processing step parameter values. According to the invention the processed image data is analyzed statistically and the result of the statistical analysis is stored such that it can be assigned to the stored processing steps and in some instances processing step parameter values. The original image data is optionally included in the statistical analysis of the processed image data.

  • Publication number: 20090112770
Abstract: A method for making accessible to a peer from a plurality of peers in a network items of medical data owned by an agent, the method comprising interfacing with a context of medical data, the context of medical data having at least one reference to contextual items of medical data, the contextual items of medical data comprising the items of medical data to be made accessible.

  • Patent number: 7524061
Abstract: A method for optic disk detection in retinal images, includes: extracting a vessel tree from a retinal image; locating an optic disk in the retinal image using the vessel tree; enhancing a contrast of the optic disk; removing vessels from the contrast enhanced optic disk; detecting a boundary of the optic disk with vessels removed by generating an edge map; projecting the edge map at a plurality of angles by using a radon transform; and estimating a radius and center of the optic disk using the projections.

  • Publication number: 20080275733
Abstract: A method and a software product is described for managing the evolution of changes and updates to a patient identification system. In a patient identification system, the data may have errors or inconsistencies which preclude automatic matching of the data for an input data record, representing a person being admitted to a hospital, with a patient object in a data base, the patient object representing a unique individual. The method includes identifying the input data records that cannot be automatically matched, and manually matching the records to objects. The manual steps are recorded and used to develop updates to the software product. The input data is again processed by the patient identification method and the amount of improvement in, or the error in, the association is used to determine when the updated software may be installed.

  • Publication number: 20050283381
Abstract: Identification information is overwritten onto a defined region of a medical image or examination data. Original data formerly occupying the overwritten region is saved and stored on a server, and associative information identifying the storage location of the original data is determined and optionally written into the defined region. The original medical image can be reconstructed by locating the stored original data from the associative information and placing the original data back into the defined region.
