  • Patent number: 6877295
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing sealed packages containing pourable food products from a tube of heat seal sheet packing material fed along a vertical path and filled continuously with the food product. The tube is pressure gripped at equally spaced cross sections of the tube by at least two pairs of jaws acting cyclically and successively on the tube. The tube is cut at each of the cross sections along a respective parting line. The packing material of the tube is heated sealed on opposite sides of the parting line.

  • Patent number: 6641639
Abstract: Bodies for heating, for example electric sealing jaws, are produced according to the present invention by a method which includes compaction and densification or consolidation of pulverulent, metallic material in a mould. The mould (6) is first supplied with the pulverulent material (10) which is compacted, as well as treated with an impregnating solution (12). Thereafter, the body (2) is heated to dry the solution and to sinter the pulverulent material. The method gives a dense body possessing superior thermal conductivity.

  • Patent number: 5968399
Abstract: An inductor for use in sealing or heating a thermoplastic or thermoplastic coated electrically conducting packaging material, comprising a current conductor adapted to be connected to a source for high-frequency current integrated within a body of a pressed powder metal material, such as iron, having granules provided with an electrically isolating surface, such as iron oxide.

  • Patent number: 5682732
Abstract: The invention relates to a sealing jaw for sealing thermoplastic materials or paper or cardboard coated with thermoplastic material, preferably packaging material. The sealing jaw is constructed from two ceramic materials, of which one is electrically insulating and the other electrically conductive: The electrically conductive ceramic material forms a continuous strand embedded in the insulating material and is, at or in the proximity of its end points, metallized so as to make good connection with an electric current source. The electrically conductive ceramic materials are treated with high pressure and heat so that they together form a pore-free, hard and abrasion-resistant body which can be applied to a steel rail.

  • Patent number: 5571370
Abstract: An apparatus for heat-sealing thermoplastic materials includes a sealing jaw with a groove in which a thermal strip is mechanically anchored. The flange portions of the jaw projecting on either side of the groove are compressed towards one another and toward the thermal strip to thereby anchor the thermal strip within the groove. The sealing jaw is manufactured from aluminum which has been surface anodized to create an electrically insulating layer between the body of the jaw and the thermal strip.

  • Patent number: 4704509
Abstract: An arrangement for the sealing of thermoplastic-coated packing material of the type which includes at least one layer of an aluminum foil. The arrangement includes an inductor (3) connectable to a high-frequency source of current which is constituted of a U-shaped loop of electrically conducting material. The legs of the U-shaped loop are parallel and are situated close to each other, and the inductor (3) a core (10) of ferrite material between its legs. The core of ferrite material has local inserts (11) of ferrite material of substantially higher permeability than the surrounding portions of the core (10) and the local inserts (11) are installed in regions of the sealing arrangement where strong local heating is required in the sealing joint or where the sealing pattern needs to be influenced.
