  • Patent number: 4634060
Abstract: A rotating drum on a carriage has one end portion constructed as a chopping chamber, the major part of the drum's periphery serving as a sieve. The interior of the drum is subjected to suction for the removal of floating components. Refuse components, which are not chopped nor removed by the sieve periphery of the drum, are discharged axially via a funnel. The unit is a mobile one.

  • Patent number: 4622183
Abstract: In a wet type or wet/dry type cooling tower, water discharged from water distributing means after its passage cooling air heat exchanger is intercepted by an array of parallel water guiding plates. Each guiding plate has a sloping upper part which covers the gap between opposite plates and an upright lower part defining a substantially horizontal transition region with the upper part. A plurality of inclined channel like embossments is formed in the upright lower part. The embossments extend one above the other between a lateral edge of the upright lower part and the transition region. At least one water collecting channel extends in transverse direction along the lateral edges of the upright lower part to collect water discharged from the inclined embossments and transfer the collected water to a recirculation device.

  • Patent number: 4509697
Abstract: A rotary drum screen which exhibits baffles with impact plates extending in the direction of the periphery and a diameter which makes it possible to break up the refuse beforehand through free fall. The upper edge of the impact plates can have a saw tooth contour and the cross section of the drum casing is a polygon, preferably an octagon. The rotary drum screen rotates at a rotational speed such that the centrifugal acceleration at the drum casing is preferably 50-70% of acceleration due to gravity.

  • Patent number: 4445906
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the treatment of the combustible portion of crushed domestic waste. The waste is pre-dried and separated from dense-medium material such as metal and glass prior to processing. A dried waste moisture level of about 8-10% is maintained throughout the process. High heat value briquets are produced without the addition of a bonding agent by sifting out fine inert material and plastic material prior to briquetting.

  • Patent number: 4406031
Abstract: Cleaning member for cleaning the interior of heat exchanger tubes by rotating, including a sponge rubber element being adapted to suit the diameter of the heat exchanger tube, and abrasive elements connected to the sponge rubber body, the abrasive elements being in the form of bristles each having a bristle shaft, and a bristle base molded into the sponge rubber ball anchoring the bristles.

  • Patent number: 4062912
Abstract: Water is continuously circulated in a closed stream through a plurality of vertically juxtaposed passages. Steam is introduced at the upstream ends of these passages and is drawn along the passages by the water so as to directly contact this water and condense. A restriction provided in each of the passages insures good condensation so that only gaseous noncondensable and nonsoluble portions of the incoming steam are drawn off at the downstream end of the passages where only the water is allowed to pass out.

  • Patent number: 4050387
Abstract: A liquid bath furnace, for burning pumpable wastes comprising hydrocarbon compounds and mineral substances, has primary and secondary combustion chambers, the walls of which are provided with La Mont boiler heating surfaces, and a post-combustion chamber. The heating surfaces are provided with heat-conducting cladding. In operation of the furnace, the wastes are fed to the primary combustion chamber, where the hydrocarbons dissociate and the mineral substances melt, a layer of the latter solidifying on the cladding in this chamber. An oil burner is used to regulate the primary combustion chamber temperature.
