  • Patent number: 7112628
Abstract: Aqueous electrophoretic lacquer capable of being deposited cataphoretically, containing A) an aqueous dispersion of cationically modified polyurethane (meth)acrylates (a1) with terminal, ethylenically unsaturated (meth)acrylic double bonds, and reactive thinner (a2) with at least two ethylenically unsaturated (meth)acrylic double bonds, the (meth)acrylic double bonds of the mixture of (a1) and (a2) corresponding to a bromine number of 20 to 150 g bromine/100 g solids, and B) photoinitiators and optionally free-radical initiators capable of thermal activation, the terminal, ethylenically unsaturated (meth)acrylic double bonds of the polyurethane (meth)acrylates being bonded with the anionically modified polyurethane prepolymer via urethane, urea, amide or ester groups, and optionally conventional auxiliary substances and additives, pigments and/or fillers.

  • Patent number: 6518395
Abstract: Process for preparation powder coating formulations by pressure release of a composition comprising a low molecular mass inert compound, with release of the low molecular mass inert compound, in which process one or more base resins and one or more hardeners for the base resins, or one or more self-curing base resins, and, if desired, further customary coatings components, are converted together or separately into a flowable form by heating, the low molecular mass inert compound is dissolved under pressure at least in one of the base resin or hardener components employed, either before these components are combined with the other components or in the already prepared mixture, the overall mixture is homogenized, and then the mixture of all components is released from pressure, with cooling.

  • Patent number: 6509411
Abstract: Aqueous, anodically precipitable electrodeposition lacquer, containing A) an aqueous dispersion consisting of anionically modified polyurethane (meth)acrylates (a1) having terminal, ethylenically unsaturated (meth)acrylic double bonds, and reactive thinners (a2) having at least two ethylenically unsaturated (meth)acrylic double bonds, whereby the (meth)acrylic double bonds from the mixture comprising (a1) and (a2) correspond to a bromine number of 20 to 150 g bromine/100 g solids, and B) optionally photo-initiators and/or optionally thermally activable radical initiators, whereby the terminal ethylenically unsaturated (meth)acrylic double bonds from the polyurethane (meth)acrylates are bonded to the anionically modified polyurethane prepolymer via urethane, urea, amide or ester groups, and optionally conventional auxiliary substances and additives, pigments and/or fillers.

  • Patent number: 6368725
Abstract: Process for the preparation of a powder lacquer composition based on polyester by a) common or separate heating to a temperature of 120-200° C. of A) 99-40 wt. % polyester precondensates, and/or of monomers usable for the preparation thereof, B) 1-60 wt. % pigments and C) 0-10 wt. % wetting additives and/or further additives which are conventionally used for lacquers, wherein the percentages by weight total 100%, b) homogeneous mixing of the components A), B) and C) with the application of shear forces and with the heating temperature maintained, c) dispersion of the mixture obtained in a dispersing medium at a temperature equal to or above the melting temperature of the starting components A), B) and C) with further polycondensation of the polyester precondensate A), and/or of the monomers, d) cooling of the dispersion and addition of a conventional cross-linking agent for the polyester and optionally of conventional additives, within the temperature range 60 to 140° C.

  • Patent number: 5932282
Abstract: A process for producing a repair coating This invention relates to a process for producing a multi-layer repair coating by the application of a transparent clear lacquer coat, which is unpigmented or which contains colourless pigment, to a predried or hardened colour- and/or effect-imparting base pigment coat, or by the application of a pigmented covering lacquer coat to an optionally precoated substrate. Binder vehicles which are hardenable exclusively by radical polymerisation are used for the production of the transparent clear lacquer coat or of the pigmented covering lacquer coat, and hardening is effected by means of pulsed, high-energy UV radiation.

  • Patent number: 5783836
Abstract: An optical sensor apparatus for detecting a vapor of an organic solvent is characterized by a simple structure which allows easy manufacture, high reliability, low cost, compactness in size, and portability. The optical sensor apparatus has a light source unit which emits light for irradiating a polymer thin film formed on a flat reflecting substrate of a sensing element. Light reflected by the sensing element is detected by a light detecting unit. The light source unit, the sensing element, and the light detecting unit are integrally supported by a housing. The polymer thin film which comes into contact with a vapor of an organic solvent causes a change in the thickness and a reflective index thereof. This change is utilized to detect the existence and/or concentration of a vapor of an organic solvent.
