The sensor region (24.1, 24.2) and the conductor arrangement (24.3) are formed by a fiber-optic system (24). The device also has a movable indicator (17), whose position corresponds to the state to be detected in the space (10) to be monitored and is detectable by the sensor region (24.1, 24.2). The sensor region (24.1, 24.2) of the fiber-optic system is protected by a shield (20).
