  • Patent number: 6220798
Abstract: A tool for the machining of workpiece surfaces, especially of drilled-hole surfaces, has at least two parts which are displaceable relative to each other. The tool for the machining of the workpiece surfaces is rotatable and includes at least one control member (19) which is displaceable relative to the tool (1) substantially perpendicularly to the axis of rotation (9) of the tool. The control member, preferably from a preset threshold speed of rotation, effects a movement of one part (5) relative to the other (3).

  • Patent number: 6050159
Abstract: A facing head includes a housing with a center axis and a rotary slide with a rotation axis offset from the housing center axis. At least one cutter plate is provided on the rotary slide and rotatable therewith. A centrifugal drive is located in the housing which rotates the rotary slide about its axis of rotation. The centrifugal drive includes at least two driving bodies which are mounted within the base body of the facing head and which are displaceable essentially perpendicular to the center axis under the influence of centrifugal force. The rotary slide rotates under the influence of a spring return device when centrifugal force does not move the driving bodies outward. A coupling device in the form of a gear wheel on the rotary slide co-operates with racks on the driving bodies so that the driving bodies move together but in opposition.

  • Patent number: 4813828
Abstract: A method for machining an enlarged profiled bore in a workpiece utilizing a numerically controlled machine and particularly a tool comprising a boring bar rotatable and axially displaceable relative to the workpiece. The milling cutter is eccentrically mounted in the boring bar thereby facilitating radial movement of the milling cutter. The milling cutter is adapted to follow a predetermined contour during removal of the boring bar from the workpiece thereby to form a correspondingly profiled bore.

  • Patent number: 4780029
Abstract: A tool holder for a numerically controlled machine tool, in which a cutting edge provided on a base member is adjustable with respect to a reference surface on the base member by adjustment means. The adjustment means comprise a U-shaped slot in the base member. This slot serves to form a pair of lever portions in the material of the base member, which lever portions are connected to each other by an area of the base member serving as a pivot. An adjustment screw threadingly engaging the base member acts upon the free end of one of said lever portions such that upon an adjusting movement of the adjustment screw the first lever portion is deflected in a predetermined direction to thereby deflect the second lever portion of the opposite direction. The second lever portion transmits its movement to the cutting edge by means of a spacing member disposed in the slot (FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 4204782
Abstract: A fixed station at a numerically controlled machine includes gauging means and automatic adjusting means for an adjustable cutting tool installed in the spindle of the numerically controlled machine. Multiple tools stored in the magazine of the NC machine for different cutting operations are provided with a common reference dimension to a cutting point so that the same gauge heads which include differential transducers registering respectively with the cutting point and reference surface of the tool can be employed to effect gauging and adjustment of different cutting tools.
