  • Patent number: 5117700
Abstract: An actuating device having increased stiffness through the use of an extendable sleeve that is capable of extending and retracting from the drive device. The drive device is capable of fitting within the extendable sleeve.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 25, 1991
Date of Patent: June 2, 1992
    Assignee: Ross-Hime Designs, Incorporated

  • Patent number: 4911033
Abstract: A mechanical manipulator having a joint with a base support and an output support each of which has an orthogonal pivot connection arrangement connecting them in one axis to a common joining arrangement connecting them in an orthogonal axis through which they are movably joined, there being a pair of guides with each rotatably connected to one of the supports and movably joined with each other. A plurality of such joints joined with one another can be provided between two rotary interfaces.

  • Patent number: 4821594
Abstract: A robot joint having a ball-like arrangement on a support, the ball arrangement positioned in a socket device in which the ball is free to move so the socket device can rotate in various directions about the ball arrangement. First and second connectors connect force imparting arrangements to fixed points in the socket device. One of these force imparting arrangements is capable of approaching or receding from the other in some rotations of the socket device.

  • Patent number: 4640448
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for dispensing materials into containers in precise amounts, which includes an adjustment mechanism for precisely controlling the volume of material dispensed. The dispensing apparatus comprises a dispensing wheel having a plurality of dispensing chambers arranged in a radial manner on the wheel. Each chamber includes a mechanism for varying its volume and hence the quantity of the substance received and discharged. The adjustment mechanism includes an externally accessible toothed wheel which is rotatable in one direction to increase the volume of the chamber and is rotatable in the opposite direction to decrease the chamber volume. First and second actuators are disposed relative to the dispensing wheel and are selectively operated to engage the toothed wheel on opposite sides of its rotational axis.

  • Patent number: 4508148
Abstract: A pharmaceutical filler apparatus (20) is disclosed. The pharmaceutical filler apparatus (20) cooperates with a conveyor (22) conveying containers to position each of the containers proximate a fluid delivery conduit (36) for receipt of fluid. The present invention further includes a reservoir (42) positioned above the containers at a predetermined height, the fluid being maintained in the reservoir at a constant level. The pharmaceutical apparatus (20) further includes a quick acting pinch valve (50) associated with the fluid delivery (36) for opening and closing the fluid delivery conduit (36). The pinch valve apparatus (50) includes a biasing spring (98) for biasing a valve apparatus (50) into a first position whereby the fluid delivery conduit (36) is closed. A cam actuator apparatus (54) cooperates with the pinch valve apparatus (50) to position the pinch valve (50) in a second position whereby the fluid delivery conduit (36) is opened.

  • Patent number: 4264266
Abstract: A manipulator apparatus (10) for performing a plurality of motions is disclosed. The apparatus (10) includes a rotatable support shaft (14) supported on a frame (12) for rotary motion. A plurality of discrete cams (16-22) are supported in a spaced relationship on the support shaft. An individual coupling mechanism (26-32) couples each of the cams to a motion transmitting device. Each coupling mechanism (26-32) includes a cam follower (146, 280, 333). Individual force limiting mechanisms (158, 404) are provided for each of the coupling mechanisms (26-32) for uncoupling a respective coupling mechanism when a force beyond a predetermined level is reached in the respective coupling mechanism.
