  • Patent number: 4112791
Abstract: A plier-like tool for stripping insulaton from sheathed cables or wires has an elongate body terminating at a front end in a first gripping jaw and at a rear end in a first shank toward which a second shank, forming part of a handle pivoted to the body, is movable to clamp the end of a cable between the first gripping jaw and a coacting second gripping jaw also pivoted to the body. The second gripping jaw is controlled by the handle via a camming mechanism which also displaces a link member along the body, that link member being rigid with a first stripping jaw and being articulated to a second stripping jaw and being articulated of the two gripping jaws for pulling insulation off the clamped cable end.

  • Patent number: 4102336
Abstract: An exercising apparatus, enabling the application of traction to various parts of the human body, comprises a rigid frame with two parallel limbs interconnected by at least one cross-bar to which a body-engaging strap is connected via a flexible link such as a chain. Each limb carries an adjustably mounted and self-locking handgrip which is grasped by a user lying on a supporting surface over which the frame is freely slidable, the user either pulling or pushing these handgrips while having his hip, neck or feet strapped to the frame. The handgrips, when unlocked, are swingable in planes transverse to their limbs and may also be slidable thereon by the user until the latter applies the traction-generating force, thereby immobilizing them in the selected position. The connecting link can also be slidably mounted on its cross-bar and made self-locking upon the application of traction.

  • Patent number: 4078303
Abstract: A tong- or vice-like appliance for gripping, holding, pressing or incising pipes, cables and the like, particularly for stripping the ends of cables and crimping ferrules thereto, has a pair of jaws with one or more pairs of oppositely inclined engagement faces (in the form of cutting edges where appropriate). In one form, the applicance is specially designed for preparing the ends of coaxial cables, and in another form it is adapted to be threaded over the cable and rotated therearound for the purpose of converting an initial intermittent cut through insulation into a continuous cut for stripping the cable end. Signalling means may be provided for indicating the desired depth of penetration of the cutting faces into the cable.

  • Patent number: 4065084
Abstract: A foldable stand for a soldering iron comprises a holder having a rear end articulated to a base in the form of a wire bracket with two lateral arms which converge in a forward direction away from its junction with the holder, the arms passing through two pairs of openings in a slider linked with a front end of the holder whereby a rearward shift of the slider folds the holder against the bracket. The openings are so spaced that this rearward shift causes an overlapping of the free ends of the arms which have nooks registering with each other in that overlapping position to form a cradle about which the electric cord of the iron can be wound.

  • Patent number: 4062218
Abstract: An appliance for cutting or otherwise deforming rod-shaped workpieces, e.g. wires, has an elongate tool body with an intermediate portion to which an actuating member or handle is pivotally connected at a first fulcrum. An extremity of the tool body, extending beyond that first fulcrum, carries a first jaw and terminates in a tip to which an arm carrying a coacting second jaw is articulated at a second fulcrum. The opposite end of the arm is rigid with or hinged to an arcuate rack, centered on the second fulcrum, whose teeth are engageable by a stepping pawl on the handle to drive the jaws closer together when the handle is swung in a predetermined sense relative to the tool body.
