  • Publication number: 20070270712
Abstract: An arrangement for sinus evacuation and for taking a sample of bone marrow during a bone marrow aspiration procedure as well as a bone marrow biopsy procedure. By applying a longitudinal movement to the needle when the needle is penetrating the bone the penetration force is reduced which lower the risk of penetrating the posterior cortex or the second sinus wall. The arrangement further includes a stopping element that prevents the needle to penetrate deeper than to a predetermined depth. The arrangement further includes longitudinal movement a stopping element that provides for an active break of the longitudinal movement of the needle when the needle has penetrated down to the predetermined depth.

  • Patent number: 5259368
Abstract: An apparatus for comminuting concretions in a patient's body includes a liquid filled focusing chamber, defined by a reflector (2) with an inner wall having the form of an open revolution ellipsoid, which has its open end closed by a bellows (4,6) intended for placing against the patient's body. A spark gap (8) is disposed at the first focus (F.sub.1) of the ellipsoid reflector for generating a shock wave intended to be focused at the second focal area (F.sub.2) of the ellipsoid. The reflector wall thickness is formed such that resonance of the waves reflected on the inside and outside of the ellipsoid reflector occurs in said second focal area at a predetermined frequency.

  • Patent number: 5062827
Abstract: Device in ultrasonic knives of the kind including a transducer for converting electrical energy at ultrasonic frequency to a mechanical oscillation. An amplitude transformer (2) forms the tip of the knife. The length of the ultrasonic transformer is in the order of magnitude 0.72 times the wavelength of the ultrasonic frequency. The ultrasonic transformer is an integral unit comprising a cylindrical portion (40), an integral portion (41) which is the curve of a wave function of the fourth order Fourier form, and a tip portion (42) which is conical, whereby the maximum stroke of the longitudinal oscillation mode of the knife is a desired resonance frequency, this resonance frequency being greatly separated, in the order of magnitude 20% with relation to the resonance frequency, from resonance frequency pertaining to harmonics of the desired resonance frequency in the longitudinal oscillation mode, and resonance frequency pertaining to oscillations in the transverse mode.
