  • Publication number: 20100006043
Abstract: A cooling arrangement for a vehicle which is powered by a combustion engine. The cooling arrangement includes an air passage through which air flows in a specific direction, and at least three cooling elements to effect cooling of a medium. The three cooling elements are arranged one after another in the air passage such that at least part of the air which flows through the air passage flows successively through all of the cooling elements and cools the media in the respective cooling elements. The cooling elements are arranged one after another in the air passage in a sequence which is related to the temperature of the media in the respective cooling elements such that the air which flows through the cooling elements in the air passage cools a succession of media, each media in succession is at a higher temperature than the one preceding it.

  • Publication number: 20100000475
Abstract: An arrangement for warming the oil in a gearbox in a vehicle powered by a combustion engine. A first pipe system with a first flow device which makes possible circulation of oil from the combustion engine through a heat exchanger. A second pipe system with a second flow device makes possible circulation of oil from the gearbox through the heat exchanger. A control device controls the flow devices so that flow of oil through the heat exchanger is obtained in situations in which the oil in the gearbox is at a too low temperature with respect to a desired temperature. The motor oil in the combustion engine can thus be used for heating the oil in the gearbox during cold starts of the combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 7617679
Abstract: An arrangement for recirculation of exhaust gases of a supercharged combustion engine. A return line which connects an engine exhaust line to an air inlet line for air supply to the combustion engine, to recirculate exhaust gases via the return line. A first EGR cooler in which the recirculating exhaust gases in the return line are cooled, as a first step, by a first coolant in a first cooling system. A second EGR cooler in which the recirculating exhaust gases in the return line are cooled, as a second step, by a second coolant in a second cooling system, and the second coolant is adapted to be at a temperature substantially corresponding to the temperature of the ambient surroundings when it is led into the second EGR cooler. A charge air cooler for the inlet line, a radiator for the second cooling system to cool the exhaust gases and a radiator element for cooling the second coolant.

  • Publication number: 20080271451
Abstract: The present invention relates to an arrangement for recirculation of exhaust gases of a supercharged combustion engine. The arrangement comprises an exhaust line intended to lead exhaust gases out from the combustion engine, an inlet line intended to lead air to the combustion engine, a compressor adapted to compressing the air in the inlet line to above atmospheric pressure, and return line which connects the exhaust line to the inlet line. The arrangement comprises an EGR cooler in which the recirculating exhaust gases in the return line are cooled by the air in a portion of the inlet line which is situated upstream of the compressor with respect to the direction of flow of the air in the inlet line.

  • Publication number: 20080271721
Abstract: An arrangement and a method for recirculation of exhaust gases of a combustion engine. A return line extends from an exhaust line for engine exhaust gases to an inlet line for air to the combustion engine. An EGR valve in the exhaust line regulates the amount of exhaust gases led through the return line. A control unit controls the EGR valve. An EGR cooler cools the exhaust gases in the return line by means of a cooling system of the combustion engine. The control unit decides whether the coolant in the cooling system is at a too low a temperature and, if it is, controls the EGR valve so that a larger amount of exhaust gases is led through the return line with extra heating.

  • Publication number: 20080256949
Abstract: An arrangement for recirculation of exhaust gases of a supercharged combustion engine in a vehicle. A first EGR cooler effects a first step of cooling the recirculating exhaust gases in the return line by means of a cooling medium in the form of a cooling air flow, and a second EGR cooler effects a second step of cooling the recirculating exhaust gases in the return line by means of a cooling medium which is at substantially the temperature of the surroundings. The first EGR cooler is fitted in an internal region of the vehicle which is adapted to have the cooling air flow passing through it during operation of the combustion engine.

  • Publication number: 20080053090
Abstract: An arrangement for recirculation of exhaust gases of a supercharged combustion engine. The arrangement comprises an exhaust line operable to lead exhaust gases out from the combustion engine, an inlet line operable to lead air at above atmospheric pressure to the combustion engine, a return line which connects the exhaust line to the inlet line so that via the return line, it is possible to recirculate exhaust gases from the exhaust line to the inlet line. An EGR cooler in which the recirculating exhaust gases in the return line are cooled by a coolant before they are mixed with the air in the inlet line. The exhaust gases in the EGR cooler are cooled by a circulating coolant which is adapted to being at a temperature substantially corresponding to the temperature of the surroundings of the engine when the coolant is led into the EGR cooler.

  • Patent number: 7182049
Abstract: Cooling device for a retarder of a vehicle engine, comprising a coolant circuit with a coolant cooler and a retarder cooler, and at least one further coolant circuit with a further coolant cooler and a further cooler. To allow more cooling capacity to be released for the retarder when the latter is activated, the cooling device has valves arranged to connect the coolant circuits together upon activation of the retarder so that at least two coolant coolers are then used for cooling the retarder, and to disconnect the coolant circuits from one another so that they revert to being separate circuits upon deactivation of the retarder.

  • Patent number: 6505109
Abstract: An arrangement and a method for a drive unit of a vehicle. The drive unit incorporates an engine, a mechanical stepped gearbox and a connecting device which is designed to transmit rotary motion from the engine to the stepped gearbox. An electric rotor machine acts upon the connecting device such that substantially no torque is transmitted from the engine to the gearbox during gear changing. A control unit connected to the rotor machine may be responsive to the output shaft from the gearbox or to the speed of the engine.
