Patent number: 9129235Abstract: A system for use in a motor vehicle wherein a navigation system and a control unit. The control unit is designed such that, using a list of goods stored in the control unit, a route of stops for purchasing the goods which can be depicted by the navigation system is produced. Furthermore, a near-field receiver and/or near-field transponder for detecting goods is present in the motor vehicle and can be or is connected to the control unit such that an additional list having detected goods can be transmitted to the control unit and the stored list can be updated by the additional list. A dynamic examination and possibly a dynamic adaptation of the route for purchasing the various goods depicted in the navigation system are thus possible.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2009Date of Patent: September 8, 2015Assignee: Continental Automotive GmbHInventors: Matthias Felten, Hans-Wilhelm Ruehl

Publication number: 20080027607Abstract: An assistance system for motor vehicles, in particular an electronic rally-copilot, an over-taking assistant, or right-of-way assistant, includes at least one control unit, which selects data from at least three groups of global, local, and internal data. The selection is by way of a specification of a driver known by the control unit and they are connected together in such a manner that an output signal can be produced relating to the driving dynamics of the motor vehicle. Further, there is provided an assistance system, which simultaneously processes, in an advantageous manner, data prepared by three groups (and/or with the specification of the driver from four groups). Redundancy can be established in an advantageous manner, which is determined, in particular for security-related uses. It can be used, in particular, as a rally-copilot, an over-taking assistant and/or right-of-way assistant for modern vehicles.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 18, 2005Publication date: January 31, 2008Inventors: Ludwig Ertl, Thorsten Kohler, Hans-Wilhelm Ruehl, Dirk Zittlau

Patent number: 6580375Abstract: A vehicle navigation system includes various interlinked facilities including a user input/output facility and a position determining facility. The navigation system is arranged to physically interface with a data communication facility pertaining to a personal digital assistant that includes a coordinate driven display, a geometrically or coordinate-wise organized input mechanism, and input keys.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2001Date of Patent: June 17, 2003Assignee: Mannesmann VDO AGInventor: Hans-Wilhelm Rühl

Patent number: 6411893Abstract: Disclosed is a method for selecting a locality name in a motor vehicle navigation system by voice input by means of a speaker-independent voice input system. A first list contains all locality names. In a second list, the locality names are entered which have already been entered once into the system, the phonemes being additionally entered. In the case of a repeated voice input of a locality name, the search is first performed in the second list.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2001Date of Patent: June 25, 2002Assignee: Siemens AGInventor: Hans-Wilhelm Rühl

Patent number: 6339370Abstract: The invention proposes an emergency call system for a motor vehicle for automatically transmitting an emergency call to an external receiving station. The motor vehicle has measuring means, for example in the form of a radar system (6), for determining the relative speed and the distance of the vehicle in relation to another vehicle or an obstacle. If the current relative speed exceeds a predetermined limit value for a given distance, it is assumed that a collision is unavoidable, and an emergency call by a transmitter (3) provided in the motor vehicle is activated. Advantageously, the vehicle position, ascertained by means of a navigation system (4), is transmitted to the receiving station with the emergency call. The invention also provides for the emergency call system to be connected to further sensors (6), suitable for detecting a collision, so that the emergency call can be revoked if an actual collision is not reported by such a sensor within a predetermined time period.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2000Date of Patent: January 15, 2002Assignee: Mannesmann VDO AGInventors: Hans-Wilhelm Rühl, Jauke van Roekel

Patent number: 6285862Abstract: A receiver which includes a control circuit (7) for delivering encoded messages, derived from a radio signal, to at least one storage device (12, 28), for receiving control data, derived from the encoded messages, from at least one storage device (12, 28), and for forming a speech text for an audio circuit (69) and a display text for a display device (13) from the control data. In order to achieve an acceptable speech text quality, a speech segment memory (14) for storing predetermined speech segments of at least one language is coupled to the control circuit (7). The control circuit (7) forms a speech text with at least a part of the message for which speech segments are stored in the speech segment memory (14). The control circuit (7) is also arranged to form a display text with at least all parts of the message which are not contained in the speech text and for which no speech segments are present in the speech segment memory (14).Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1998Date of Patent: September 4, 2001Assignee: U.S. Philips CorporationInventors: Hans-Wilhelm Rühl, Joris H.
