  • Patent number: 6505015
Abstract: An electrographic printing device has at least one printing unit with a toner image carrier. A printing device for producing a toner image prints at least one mark on a photoconductor belt. The toner contained on the photoconductor belt is transferred to a transfer belt at a first transfer point and transferred from said transfer belt to a strip-shaped support material at a second transfer point. A sensor situated on the transfer belt detects the passage of the mark and a control unit determines the time that has elapsed between the time of printing and the time at which the mark is detected and controls the transportation of the strip-shaped support material accordingly.

  • Patent number: 6366742
Abstract: In a method for improving the printing quality for electrographic color printing, print consumables, particularly toner, are monitored in container-exact fashion and substance-specific information are employed for the control of the printing process. Toner expiration dates for the consumables are identified and noted early at the respective printing location. The consumable contained in the container and the amount of consumable contained is thus stored in machine-readable fashion at the container. An information carrier is provided at the container for non-contacting transmission of data and energy from a data read and/or write station to the container. A transponder that is provided with an individual hardware identifier is provided as the information carrier. The hardware identifier may be employed as a component part of codes for device control. The printer or copier system disclosed includes a recycling concept for consumables containers.

  • Patent number: 6138564
Abstract: For regulating the pressure in a pressure chamber, in particular in a pneumatic brake apparatus for a web-type recording medium, an actual pressure is set in the pressure chamber dependent on an actual angle of rotation of a rotary valve. The actual angle of rotation of the rotary valve and the actual pressure in the pressure chamber are acquired. A target pressure and a target angle of rotation allocated to this target pressure are predetermined, and a pressure deviation between the actual pressure and the target pressure are determined, as is a deviation of the angle of rotation between the actual angle of rotation and the target angle of rotation. An adjusting unit sets the angle of rotation at the rotary valve, first dependent on the deviation of the angle of rotation and then dependent on the pressure deviation. Furthermore, a sensor for acquiring the angle of rotation is specified.

  • Patent number: 6055408
Abstract: A printer for printing endless paper webs on both sides has two printing stations with a web turnover station therebetween. The paper web is fed in parallel side-by-side to the two printing stations which are on the same rollers. The drive of the web through the printer is by a positive drive, using pins to engage holes in the paper web, for example, into the first printing station. The drive of the paper web thereafter is by friction drive to permit slippage in the drive to compensate for variations in paper length during heating, etc. The slippage is controlled by brakes or other drag inducing devices acting on one or both of the two portions of the paper web.

  • Patent number: 5878299
Abstract: A method for operation of a printing mechanism in an electrographic printer or copier, whereby a charge image is applied at a surface region of a toner image carrier. The surface region provided with the charge image is conveyed past at the transfer surface of a transfer element at a spacing of a developing gap. The actual width of the gap is controlled with a loop control circuit.

  • Patent number: 4474472
Abstract: A measuring system for the detection of particles in a gas flow utilizes a light source, a light detector for receiving light from the light source, and an evaluating circuit connected to the light detector. A hollow body having a longitudinal portion and a side portion which branches off from the longitudinal portion at an angle is provided. One end of the longitudinal portion is open for entry of the gas flow and an end of the side portion is open for exiting of the gas flow. The other end of the longitudinal portion is closed with a cover in which the light source and light detector means are arranged. Particles which might be present in the gas are deposited on inner walls of a bore hole in the cover so as to change detected intensity of the light from the light source which passes through soiled areas at the inner wall of the bore hole.

  • Patent number: 4424703
Abstract: A device for monitoring the concentration of an air-vapor mixture in the fixing station of a non-mechanical printing or copying device has an ultrasonic transducer for generating and receiving an ultrasonic signal in the fixing station, the transit time of the ultrasonic signal between transmission and reception indicating the air-vapor mixture concentration in the station. The transit times are subdivided into at least three ranges of which the mean range or mean ranges identify a desired concentration. An evaluator circuit post-connected to the ultrasonic transducer forms signals corresponding to the ranges, the signals being entered in one of at least three status memories in accordance with their significance. The status memory which is filled first emits an output signal for triggering a corresponding reaction such as increasing the vapor density in the station, and cancels the contents of all of the status memories.
