Patent number: 5706746Abstract: A needle drive for a multi-needle stitching machine is provided, having a needle bar supporting needles, which is suspended on pairs of elbow joint levers. The elbow joint levers are engaged by a common push rod, which is movable back and forth by a drive. The needle bar is supported on vertical guides and is moved up and down by the pushing movements of the push rod. The needles of the stitching machine reach the lower point of reversal when the elbow joint levers are completely stretched, that is, when the elbow joint levers are disposed parallel with each other. In this manner, the lower point of reversal is clearly determined, and remains the same, irrespective of whether the lift of the push rod is increased or decreased in order to adjust the lifting of the needles from the sewing material.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1995Date of Patent: January 13, 1998Assignee: Gateway (Textiles) LimitedInventor: Hans Zeller

Patent number: 5076183Abstract: The embrodiery machine shuttle, preferably made of plastic, has two main components, namely a base plate and a housing which can be fastened on the base plate. The base plate forms the slide face of the shuttle. For this reason the elements required for thread tension are placed in the interior of the shuttle. A bobbin is maintained in the correct position by a bobbin mounting and a part thereof forms a rear thread guide element. The thread is drawn off the bobbin and routed to a thread hole through and around the thread guide element between an upper pressure plate and a lower counterpressure spring. The thread tension can be easily adjusted from the outside with a slide. The shuttle according to the present invention is suited, together with a corresponding shuttle processing machine, for automatic emptying, cleaning, filling with a fresh bobbin, threading and setting the thread tension.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1990Date of Patent: December 31, 1991Assignee: Perfecta-Schmid AGInventors: Ferdinand Kleger, Hans Zeller

Patent number: 4504732Abstract: A heating device for use in motor vehicles to rapidly heat combustion chambers, exhaust gas sensors, catalyzers and other associated apparatus. A resistive heating element is connected in series with a low-impedance measuring resistor and a switch across a power source, while a resistance bridge is formed with the aid of two further resistors. The diagonal bridge voltages are compared in a comparator whose output actuates a control circuit which operates the heater switch. The heater switch also provides the power for the comparator. In a first interval, constant current is applied to the heating element, while the current is pulsed during a second time interval. The switch control pulses may be provided by a free-running oscillator or one whose pulses are synchronized with the undulations of the engine starter current.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 1984Date of Patent: March 12, 1985Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Carsten Bube, Gerd Thiele, Hans Zeller

Patent number: 4257363Abstract: An ignition control device for changing the ignition timing of an internal combustion engine during and after the occurrence of engine braking, i.e., during a condition of increased speed and low load, as during coasting. The device includes a circuit which receives signals related to engine load and engine speed and determines therefrom the onset of engine braking. The device then retards the engine timing so as to reduce the amount of positive engine torque, whereafter the fuel supply may be entirely shut off. Upon establishment of normal operation or idling, the fuel supply is restored and the ignition timing is gradually returned to the normal setting.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 1978Date of Patent: March 24, 1981Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventor: Hans Zeller

Patent number: 4182295Abstract: A fuel supply mechanism for an internal combustion engine includes a fuel-air mixture generator and an air bypass channel for conducting supplementary air to the mixture prior to delivery to the cylinders. The bypass channel has a valve which is coupled to the main throttle valve in the induction manifold. The coupling may be entirely mechanical or electro-mechanical. In addition, a controller which acts on the basis of engine information changes the degree of coupling between the main throttle and the bypass valve to admit more or less supplementary air, depending on the value of engine variables.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 1978Date of Patent: January 8, 1980Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Hans Zeller, Reinhard Latsch, Johannes Brettschneider, Valerio Bianchi

Patent number: 4156415Abstract: The induction tube of an internal combustion engine is provided with a bypass conduit which feeds additional fresh air to the induction tube downstream of the carburetor and the main throttle plate. The flow through the bypass is controlled by a pneumatic control valve which is actuated by selective admission of a mixture of pressures taken from the main induction tube and from ambient sources. The selection takes place on the basis of transducer signals related to engine conditions which are processed by a regulator.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1977Date of Patent: May 29, 1979Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Hans Zeller, Johannes Brettschneider

Patent number: 4134374Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting cylinder malfunction by monitoring the actual rotational speed in an internal combustion engine, e.g. with an inductive transducer. This signal is compared in phase with pulses from a voltage controlled oscillator, the control voltage of which comes from an integrating circuit driven by the phase comparison signal in the manner of a phase-locked loop. The VCO pulses are used to clock a shift register and the actual pulses provide the data input for the shift register. Thus, the relative arrival time of the two pulse trains determines the contents of the shift register. Decoding circuitry is used to interrogate the shift register and to actuate an output device when the contents of the register indicate an unsymmetric periodicity, caused by cylinder malfunction.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 1977Date of Patent: January 16, 1979Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Reinhard Latsch, Valerio Bianchi, Hans Zeller

Patent number: 4083338Abstract: The induction manifold of an internal combustion engine is provided with an air bypass conduit which has an air flow metering valve which is controlled by the same differential pressure experienced by the air responsive element of the carburetor in the induction tube. The pressure drop across this valve is further influenced by a second air metering valve acting as a pressure control valve, also located in the bypass line downstream of the first metering valve. A regulator responsive to engine conditions controls valves which cause selective admission of different pressures to the actuation chamber of the pressure control valve to regulate the amount of bypassed air.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1977Date of Patent: April 11, 1978Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Johannes-Gerhard Bertling, Hans Zeller, Johannes Brettschneider
