  • Patent number: 4666948
Abstract: Resilient foams based on melamine resins are prepared by foaming an aqueous solution which contains a melamine/formaldehyde precondensate, an emulsifier, a volatile blowing agent and a curing agent and then curing the foam. In this process, from 0.2 to 4% by weight of an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or aluminum salt of an organic, preferably polybasic acid, of a polyphosphoric acid or of a boron acid are added to the aqueous solution.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 24, 1986
Date of Patent: May 19, 1987
    Assignee: BASF Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Frank P. Woerner, Peter Neumann, Harald Mahnke, Josef Lamprecht, Dieter Horn, Gerhard Turznik, Friedrich Kraus, Hanshelmut Kaeppel, Eduard Heim
  • Patent number: 4530940
Abstract: Stabilized melamine resin foams contain, as a stabilizer, a copper or iron compound in an amount corresponding to from 10 ppm to 3%, based on the weight of the melamine resin, of Cu or Fe, preferably an oxide, hydroxide or carbonate of copper.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 28, 1984
Date of Patent: July 23, 1985
    Assignee: BASF Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Frank P. Woerner, Horst Reimann, Harald Mahnke, Peter Neumann, Gerhard Turznik, Hanshelmut Kaeppel
  • Patent number: 4251411
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of partially dehydrated organic polymer polyol dispersions from the reaction of polyhydroxyl compounds and aqueous polymer dispersions wherein the problem of excessive viscosity is overcome by mixing the reactants with a recycled partially dehydrated polyol polymer dispersion, removing water from the reaction mixture, removing a portion of the partially dehydrated polyol polymer dispersion, and recycling the remainder.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 11, 1978
Date of Patent: February 17, 1981
    Assignee: BASF Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Gerhard Heinz, Hermann Dikow, Wolfgang Jarre, Dietmar Nissen, Klaus Matthias, Hanshelmut Kaeppel
  • Patent number: 4180635
Abstract: An economical and environmentally advantageous process for the continuous manufacture of unsaturated polyesters, wherein the vapors formed during the polycondensation are purified, in a two-part distillation column, to a degree where the residual content of organic starting materials is less than 1.5 percent by weight, based on the total weight of the effluent, and the unconverted starting materials are recycled to the process.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 29, 1978
Date of Patent: December 25, 1979
    Assignee: BASF Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Hermann Fischer, Richard Thoma, Hanshelmut Kaeppel, Ernst Kochendoerfer, Werner Lagaly
