  • Publication number: 20180055073
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a beverage comprising a milled rhodoxanthin form with an average particle size D(v,0.5) of the milled rhodoxanthin in the form in the range of from 400 to 600 nm, more preferably in the range of from 500 nm to 600 nm, whereby the average particle size is measured by Laser Diffraction; Malvern Mastersizer 3000, MIE volume distribution. The present invention is also directed to such a milled rhodoxanthin form, its manufacture and its use for coloring beverages.

  • Publication number: 20180055068
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an edible coating comprising rhodoxanthin. This edible coating has preferably a red value a* of at least 36 at the CIELAB color scale. In embodiments of the present invention the edible coating further comprises ?-carotene or 8?-apo-?-caroten-8?-al. This edible coating is preferably used for coating confectionary such as chocolate lentils, but not limited thereto. The present invention is also directed to precursors of such edible coatings such as sugar syrup and sugar-free alternatives, both comprising rhodoxanthin and optionally ?-carotene or 8?-apo-?-caroten-8?-al. Furthermore, the present invention is directed to a panned confection comprising: a) an edible product center, and b) an edible coating according to the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20180042260
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an edible coating comprising milled rhodoxanthin having an average particle size D(v,0.5) in the range of from 400 to 650 nm, more preferably in the range of from 500 nm to 600 nm, measured by Laser Diffraction; Malvern Mastersizer 3000, MIE volume distribution. This milled rhodoxanthin is preferably added to the edible coating during its manufacture in the form of a dispersion. The edible coating is preferably used for coating confectionary such as chocolate lentils. The present invention is also directed to precursors of such edible coatings such as sugar syrup and sugar-free alternatives, both comprising such a milled rhodoxanthin.

  • Publication number: 20180042261
Abstract: The present invention is directed to gums and jellies comprising a milled rhodoxanthin form with an average particle size D(v,0.5) of the milled rhodoxanthin in the form in the range of from 400 to 600 nm, more preferably in the range of from 500 nm to 600 nm, whereby the average particle size is measured by Laser Diffraction; Malvern Mastersizer 3000, MIE volume distribution. The present invention is also directed to such a milled rhodoxanthin form, its manufacture and its use for coloring gums (especially gummy bears) and jellies.

  • Publication number: 20170157054
Abstract: The present invention relates to formulations of a pharmacological effective fat-soluble active ingredient with a high bioavailability of said fat-soluble active ingredient as well as to their manufacture and use as dietary supplement, food, feed, personal care product and/or pharmaceutical. Such formulations are those which when dissolved, dispersed or diluted in/with water have an extinction E 1/1 at a wavelength in the range of from 200 to 800 nm, preferably in the range of from 250 to 600 nm, more preferably in the range of from 250 to 500 nm, more preferably in the range of from 370 to 485 nm, of ?380, preferably of ?600, most preferably ?900. In preferred embodiments of the formulations of the present invention such formulations show an extrusion loss of fat-soluble active ingredient of ?30% when pressed to tablets.

  • Publication number: 20160227827
Abstract: The present invention is directed to rhodoxanthin formulations, whereby the rhodoxanthin is embedded in a matrix of a protective hydrocolloid, the protective hydrocolloid being preferably a modified food starch. The present invention is further directed to the manufacture of such formulations as well as to their use for colouring beverages, food or pharmaceutical compositions, whereby the rhodoxanthin formulations impart an intense red colour to those coloured beverages, food or pharmaceutical compositions. The beverages, food or pharmaceutical compositions which comprise the rhodoxanthin formulations are further aspects of this invention.
