  • Patent number: 4702612
Abstract: The compass is composed of a glass plate constituting a transparent outer component and of a thin plate constituting an inner transparent component. Two bearings are fixed in holes in these plates, one bearing being situated near the upper face and covered by a disk. An arbor can thus be machined with a maximum length and can support the compass needle with the greatest possible precision. The compass unit, comprising a setting ring which holds the two plates in place, may be driven with a gasket into the radial wall of the case body in lieu of the usual watch glass.

  • Patent number: 4497583
Abstract: A bezel (6) is composed of two parts (12 and 13) which may be formed by machining and are thereafter joined to one another by welding, soldering, brazing, or cementing. A peripheral rib (14) of a wall (2) of the case back (1) extends within the U-shaped profile formed by the two bezel parts (12 and 13). The rib (14) surrounds a gasket (15) fitted on the inner arm (13a) of the U-shaped profile (12, 13), the outward face of which being frustoconical and flaring downwards, for holding the gasket in place, thus facilitating assembly.

  • Patent number: 4197698
Abstract: In a two-piece, round or shaped fluid-tight watch case, a combined caseband-and-bezel is fixed to the wall of a domed back by means of a snap-fitting or of gripping. A gasket is accommodated in an outer peripheral undercut situated along the top edge of the wall of the domed back and is pressed obliquely by an inclined surface exhibited by the caseband-bezel at the periphery of the undersurface of a flange. Since the undersurface of the glass is plane, the thickness of the flange determines the height of the space left for the hands.
