  • Patent number: 4384364
Abstract: A quadrature modulation analog transmission system provides an extended dynamic range of amplification by dividing the total gain desired between the two quadrature channels without overloading the transmission medium. The direct channel furnishes a higher gain for low-level background noise signals, while the quadrature channel furnishes a lower gain for high-level signaling tones.

  • Patent number: 4074319
Abstract: Disclosed are a method and apparatus for developing a pictorial field display from transmitted facsimile data. The display, which comprises an array of two level ("on"/"off") energy sources such as light emitting diodes, achieves multitone operation by digitally controlling the time duration during which the energy sources are activated. Received data is stored in a multiport memory connected to the energy sources, permitting the simultaneous activation of the energy sources in the array.
