  • Patent number: 5230125
Abstract: The combing machine is provided with a plurality of combing devices for delivering a plurality of combed slivers as well as a drafting system for receiving and drafting the combed slivers for delivery to a can press. A measuring device is provided to measure the thickness of the sliver delivered to the drafting system and to deliver a signal to a control unit which, in turn, regulates the drafting of the sliver within the drafting system in accordance with the received signal in order to obtain an evened combed sliver.

  • Patent number: 5109574
Abstract: The circular comb segment is constructed to leave a large free space at the front edge to avoid deflecting a tuft delivered from a nipper unit away from the foremost needles or clothing points at the front edge. The comb segment may be provided with recesses at the sides of the front edge to receive screws for fixing the segment to a comb roller or may be provided with projecting lugs for securement to a comb roller. In one embodiment, the lugs may be replaced by clamping plates which engage against a reduced lip at the front edge of the segment or engaged within a recess or groove at the front edge. In still another embodiment, the comb segment may be provided with an inwardly offset projection to be received in a recess of the roller and secured therein.

  • Patent number: 5096135
Abstract: A transport device serves for the delivery of a plurality of tubes wound with textile material to form laps, between a lap forming machine and a lap processing machine, by means of a transport truck. The transport truck possesses a tiltable receiver in which repose the laps. Viewed in the lengthwise direction of the laps, the latter are arranged behind and coaxially with respect to one another at a predetermined mutual spacing. With prior art devices, a number of manual operations are required to accomplish the exchange of laps and empty tubes. In particular, the empty tubes must be manually removed and intermediately stored at the lap processing machine before they can be manually placed upon the transport truck following mounting of the full laps.

  • Patent number: 4970851
Abstract: The combing machine comprises a detaching roll and an oscillating nipper unit comrising bottom and top nippers. The predetermined spacing for the oscillating nipper unit with respect to the detaching roll is adjustable, such predetermined spacing being the spacing between the front edge of a bottom-nipper plate and the nip location at the detaching roll when the oscillating nipper unit is in its front end position. A top comb is held in top-comb holders. Each top-comb holder on a top-comb bed is pivotably adjustable about an axis substantially parallel to the detaching roll, the top-comb bed being secured at the bottom nipper. Subsequent to an adjustment of the predetermined spacing, the top-comb holders are reset such that pins of the top comb are again located at the same predetermined distance from the detaching roll.

  • Patent number: 4677710
Abstract: A cleaning arrangement for the pressing rollers of a combing machine which are pressed toward associated detaching rollers includes at least one cleaning roller which is mounted for free rotation in engagement with the respective pressing roller about an axis parallel to that of such pressing roller. The cleaning roller has a smooth outer surface to which fibers will not adhere. During the operation of the combing machine, the pressing rollers conduct controlled intermittent rotary movements, but the cleaning roller does not immediately follow such movements; rather, a certain degree if slippage occurs between the cleaning roller and the respective pressing roller, resulting in stripping off of any fibers which may adhere to the pressing roller.
