Abstract: Described are electronic hard disk drives that are made to include: a base; a cover; interior components such as a stack of magnetic recording disks, reading and recording heads, electronics to read and record and to transfer data to and from an external electronic device; and a cover support at the interior of the device to inhibit movement of the cover.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided, including a base-deck floor; a base-deck frame, overlying the base-deck floor; a top cover, overlying the base-deck frame; and an affixing means operable to attach the base-deck frame to the base-deck floor, wherein the base-deck frame is operable to be fastened to both the base-deck floor and the top cover to provide a housing for a hard disk drive. A method is also provided, including assembling at least a portion of a hard disk drive assembly on a base-deck floor; affixing a base-deck frame to the base-deck floor; and securing a top cover to the base-deck frame.

Abstract: A media separator plate is provided having a plate main body and a shroud. The plate main body has a continuous, non-interrupted inner circumference and a continuous, non-interrupted outer circumference. The plate main body extends from the inner circumference to the outer circumference and includes a top surface and a bottom surface. The shroud is integrally formed with at least a portion of the outer circumference of the plate main body. The shroud is configured to at least partially surround the plate main body. The shroud extends above the top surface of the plate main body, below the bottom surface of the plate main body and outwardly from the outer circumference of the plate main body.

Abstract: Devices are provided herein in a variety of examples that inhibit particle pickup and transport and mechanical vibrations and provide other advantages. In one illustrative example, an actuator assembly includes a base, an actuator disposed on the base, and a shroud disposed on the base around the actuator. The shroud includes one or more shroud walls disposed between the actuator and a flow channel exterior to the shroud. The shroud walls may include shielding walls that partially surround the actuator, radially curved shroud wall segments, fastener well shields that substantially separate an interior thereof from the actuator, and other aspects. A data storage device may have a flow path defined therein, and the shroud may be disposed around an actuator within the data storage device, providing a streamlined surface between the flow path and the actuator.
