    Abstract: Extended DRX (e-DRX) operation using hyper frame extension signaling are described. The hyper frame extension signaling may extend the system frame number (SFN) range while maintaining backward compatibility for legacy devices not configured to use the extended SFN range. The hyper-SFN extension signaling may include an index to a hyper-SFN transmitted as part of system information different than that used for transmission of the SFN. UEs configured to use the hyper-SFN may effectively use a longer or extended SFN range that includes the legacy SFN range and the hyper-SFN range. The hyper-SFN extension may be used in an extended idle DRX (eI-DRX) mode which may coexist with existing I-DRX mode on the same paging resources. Additionally or alternatively, paging may be differentiated for eI-DRX mode UEs using separate paging occasions or a new paging radio network temporary identifier (RNTI).

    Abstract: In one embodiment of the present invention, a quality trainer and quality calculator collaborate to establish a consistent perceptual quality metric via machine learning. In a training phase, the quality trainer leverages machine intelligence techniques to create a perceptual quality model that combines objective metrics to optimally track a subjective metric assigned during viewings of training videos. Subsequently, the quality calculator applies the perceptual quality model to values for the objective metrics for a target video, thereby generating a perceptual quality score for the target video. In this fashion, the perceptual quality model judiciously fuses the objective metrics for the target video based on the visual feedback processed during the training phase. Since the contribution of each objective metric to the perceptual quality score is determined based on empirical data, the perceptual quality score is a more accurate assessment of observed video quality than conventional objective metrics.

The backlight module in the embodiment of the present disclosure includes at least two lateral entrance light guide plates, each lateral entrance light guide plate is provided with a light bar. The number of light bars of the backlight module is increased, thereby increasing the maximum brightness of the backlight module. The overall brightness variation range of the backlight module is thus increased. In addition, the light bar of each lateral entrance light guide plate can be separately controlled, thereby increasing the brightness range of the backlight module. Therefore, the backlight module provided by this solution can effectively improve the HDR display effect of the display device.
