  • Publication number: 20180065091
Abstract: Plate-and-frame membrane modules, assemblies and processes for separating components of a fluid mixture. The assemblies comprise of a pressure vessel filled with, and able to hold, pressurized fluid being processed. Lightweight membrane plate-and-frame modules are contained inside the vessel. Fluid directing conduits direct the fluid streams being processed into and out of the vessel and across the surface of the separating membrane. Because the modules are surrounded by high pressure fluid, the forces acting on the module are small. This means the modules can be made of lightweight, inexpensive materials, such as plastic. The design of the assemblies is such that it allows for modules to be easily replaced as needed. The assemblies are also designed for pressurized feed fluid separations and separation using a sweep fluid on the permeate side of the membrane. The pressure vessel can contain one or several membrane modules.

  • Publication number: 20180064744
Abstract: Aspects of the invention include methods of reducing the deleterious activity of a mutant extended nucleotide repeat (NR) containing target gene in a cell by contacting the cell with an effective amount of a nucleoside agent, as well as compositions used in such methods. The deleterious activity (e.g., toxicity and/or dis-functionality of products encoded thereby) of a mutant extended NR containing target gene may be reduced in a variety of different ways, e.g., by reducing (and in some instances differentially, including selectively, reducing) the production or activity of toxic expression products (e.g., RNA or protein) encoded by the target gene. Kits and compositions for practicing the subject methods are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20180066067
Abstract: The transmembrane E3 ubiquitin ligases ZNRF3 and RNF43 are negative regulators of ?-catenin and the Wnt signaling pathway in eukaryotic cells. The activity of ZNRF3 can be modulated by antibody binding to its extracellular domain, thus causing an increase in Wnt signaling. The ZNRF3 antagonizing antibodies can be used to treat diseases with low Wnt signaling, such as short bowel syndrome, osteoporosis, diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases, and mucositis. In addition, the antagonizing antibodies of the invention can be used to enhance Wnt signaling for tissue repair and wound healing.

  • Publication number: 20180070243
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) and base station may communicate using narrow band internet of things (NB-IoT) techniques or enhanced machine type communication (eMTC) in unlicensed spectrum. The UE may be an eMTC device or another device capable of communication without user direction. The UE may identify a geographic region and select a communication mode that is consistent with regulatory restrictions in that region. For example, in some cases, the communication mode may be based on using time division duplexing (TDD), using frequency hopping, or performing a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure at the base station. A frame structure for TDD may include LBT subframes, uplink portions, downlink portions, and special subframes for switching. The base station may perform LBT procedures in the LBT subframes. If frequency hopping is enabled, a configurable number of TDD frames may be grouped into a hopping frame block.

  • Publication number: 20180069506
Abstract: The present invention discloses an electrical inspection method for solar cells, comprising steps of supplying a voltage and a current to a solar cell for stimulating the solar cell and giving a ray of light; filtering the light to give a ray of light having a predetermined wavelength; and measuring an optical power value of the light having a predetermined wavelength. The electrical inspection method adopts a low-cost apparatus to replace the solar simulators according to the prior art. In addition to saving costly equipment, filter adjustment, and the maintenance fee for replacing lamps, the defect inspection flow for solar cells can be further integrated and hence improving the efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20180065568
Abstract: A video display apparatus includes a base, a video display installed on the base, and a fixing frame for fastening the base on a vehicle roof The base has an elongated case. The case has a first end portion and an opposite second end portion. The fixing frame is pivotally connected to the first end portion, so the base is rotatable between a first position and a second position with respect to the fixing frame. When the fixing frame is fastened to the vehicle roof, a distance between the vehicle roof and the second end portion at the first position is more than that at the second position. The fixing frame has a mating surface for abutting against the vehicle roof The area of the cross-section of the first end portion is less than three quarters of the area defined by the outer edge of the mating surface.

  • Publication number: 20180069531
Abstract: A relaxation oscillator for generating a low temperature coefficient (LTC) clock signal includes a reference voltage generator and an oscillator. The reference voltage generator generates an LTC current and a bandgap reference voltage. The reference voltage generator includes positive temperature coefficient (PTC) resistors to compensate for the effects of temperature variations. The oscillator receives the LTC current and the bandgap reference voltage, and generates a clock signal. In another embodiment, the reference voltage generator generates a charge current that varies with temperature. The oscillator receives the charge current and generates first and second output signals. Set and reset comparators include PTC resistors that determine the gains of the set and reset comparators. The PTC resistors compensate for variation in the first and second output signals due to the temperature variations by varying the gains of the set and reset comparators.

  • Publication number: 20180069589
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Resources for narrowband communication in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band may be configured and allocated based on resource availability, regulatory constraints, and device capability or category. A narrowband wireless device, such as a machine type communication device or other relatively low complexity device, may communicate using one or more narrowband carriers, which may occupy between one tone and multiple resource blocks in an unlicensed spectrum band (e.g., any number of resources between one (1) tone and multiple resource blocks (RBs)). Different device types may thus be configured differently as they move between geographic regions. The base station may then communicate with the narrowband mobile device based on the resource allocation and the carrier configuration.

  • Publication number: 20180067584
Abstract: Touch sensor configurations for reducing electrostatic discharge events in the border area of a touch sensor panel is disclosed. Touch sensors (e.g., electrodes formed on the cover material and/or the opaque mask) can be susceptible to certain events such as arcing and discharge/joule heating, which may negatively affect touch sensor performance. Examples of the disclosure can include increasing the trace width, spacing, and/or thickness in the border area relative to the trace width, spacing, and/or thickness in the visible/active area along one or more sides of the touch sensor panel. In some examples, touch electrodes can be located exclusively in the visible/active areas along one or more sides of the touch sensor panel, while dummy sections can be included in both the border and visible/active areas. Additionally or alternatively, one or more gaps between adjacent touch electrodes in the border area or serpentine routing can be included.

  • Publication number: 20180068296
Abstract: An interface and device architecture for a payment device. An interface between a payment application installed in a payment device and one or more value-add applications (such as loyalty programs, transit applications, etc.) that are also installed in the payment device. The API or interface design permits communications and data transfer between the payment application and one or more value-add applications. This reduces (and in some cases may prevent) the need for back-end server processing of data that may be relevant to both a payment transaction and to a function of the value-add application. Similarly, the same or another API or interface may enable communications and data transfer between a value-add application and the payment application.
