    Abstract: An IC contact (1) for use in an LGA socket includes a retention portion (10), a contact portion (11) extending from the retention portion, a solder terminal portion (12) extending opposite to the contact portion, and a connecting section (13) connected between the retention portion and the solder terminal portion. The connecting section is bent from a sheet of material and configured to have a multi-curved shape. Such a multi-curved connecting section does provide a high contact force for deflection, and is capable of attaining high compliance, thereby having no portion cracked during a reflow solder process.

    Abstract: An electrical connector assembly (100) includes an electrical connector (2) with a first plurality of holes (230) thereon, a heat sink (3) mounted onto the electrical connector and including a second plurality of holes (300) thereon, a substrate (4) mounted onto the electrical connector and including a third plurality of holes (400) thereon. The second plurality of holes and the third plurality of holes are aligned with and in communication with the first plurality of holes. A plurality of pin-like elements (1) is respectively insertable into the first plurality of holes, the second plurality of holes and the third plurality of holes so as to hold the heat sink, the electrical connector and the substrate together. Since the substrate is needed to define a single group of holes in correspondence with the pin-like elements, much more room is available on the substrate for active and passive electronic elements to be equipped therewith.

The stiffener defines an opening (31) for surrounding the housing. Each of the ribs has a base defining a mating surface (2321) and a mounting surface (2312). The stiffener is coupled to the housing by the rib mating surface abutting against a wall face (32) of the stiffener opening, and the rib mounting surface resting on a peripheral edge (320) of the stiffener that defines the opening. As such, a reliable coupling between the stiffener and the housing is achieved, thereby having no possibility of releasing the housing from the stiffener by an external, improper force.
