  • Patent number: 4930960
Abstract: A mounting screw for mounting an electrical wiring device having non-metallic components, to an electrical outlet box and combination of root electrical wiring device and screw. The screw includes a head and a shank, with a lip projecting downwardly from the bottom surface of the screw head spaced from and encircling the shank, and a series of ribs extending radially outward between the shank and the lip. Advantageously the mounting screw is in combination with an electrical wiring device having non-metallic mounting straps so that when the screw is installed by a power tool, the lip-and-ribs arrangement on the screw bites into the mounting strap material to produce resistance to the turning of the power tool signaling the operator that the screw is secure.

  • Patent number: 4102466
Abstract: A weatherproof cover for attachment to the open face of a vertically mounted electrical receptacle outlet box, the cover including a plate having an open faced hood extending outwardly across the top and down the opposite sides of the plate and a transparent, plastic closure having a front wall, side walls and a bottom wall pivotally mounted to the leading edge of the top hood wall and spring means at the pivotal mounting of said closure to the leading edge of the top hood wall for biasing said closure into closed position over the open face of said hood so that, when closed, said closure forms a weather cover over the electrical receptacle and, when open, said closure forms a weathershield of said receptacle.

  • Patent number: 4086549
Abstract: At least one stationary electrical contact is fixedly mounted in a housing and an equal number of corresponding movable contacts is affixed to a movable member pivotally mounted within the housing and positioned thereon to mate with the stationary contact, however, first biasing means are coupled between the movable member and the housing to retard mating of the contacts. An actuating member is slidably pivotally mounted within the housing and adapted to engage the movable member, with biasing means coupled between the actuating member and the housing to overcome the first biasing means and urge the movable and stationary contacts into mating relation when the actuating and movable members have been engaged. Release means, controlled by circuit fault sensing means, are positioned adjacent the actuating member for causing the actuating arm to be released from the movable member when predetermined circuit conditions are detected by the sensing means, to disjoin the stationary and movable contacts.
