  • Publication number: 20080159864
Abstract: The invention relates to a rotor for a non-positive-displacement machine provided with a hollow shaft, which is arranged coaxial to the rotation axis, is supported, on both sides and on the face, on two axially opposed sections of the rotor, and which encloses an inner hollow space. In order to provide a rotor for a non-positive-displacement machine, which has a higher serviceable life and is less susceptible to mechanical defects, the invention provides that the hollow shaft, in the axial direction of the rotor, is formed from a number of adjoining rings, and the rings are outwardly sealed against one another an with regard to the sections of the hollow space. Each ring has an I-shaped cross-section and the web of the I shape extends in the radial direction of the rotor.

  • Publication number: 20080031724
Abstract: The invention relates to a rotor disk for the rotor of a non-positive displacement machine with at least one borehole extending in an axial direction. The aim of the invention is to provide a rotor disk for a non-positive displacement machine that has an increased serviceable life. To this end, the boring extends in an at least partially convex manner whereby having an enlarged diameter in the middle area in order to increase internal compressive stress an to reduce tangential stresses.

  • Patent number: 7234918
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to a system and method for controlling the size of gaps in a turbine engine. In many instances, it is desirable to minimize the size of the gaps between neighboring rotating and stationary components in a turbine engine, such as between a disc cover plate and a proximate pre-swirler. According to embodiments of the invention, each component can be provided with a sealing surface. The sealing surfaces can be angled relative to the axis of rotation. The sealing surfaces are spaced from each other so as to form a gap therebetween. The sealing surfaces may or may not be substantially parallel. As a result of such configuration, the size of the gap can be controlled by axial and radial movement of the components. For example, the gap between the cover plate and the pre-swirler can be adjusted by axially movement of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 6988366
Abstract: A gas turbine includes an annular combustion chamber and an outer wall of an annular combustion chamber. A straining ring is arranged on the outer wall of the annular combustion chamber and enables oscillations of the outer wall to be damped via friction. The effects of combustion oscillations produced by damaging vibrations of the annular combustion chamber are thus reduced. A method is further for damping an oscillation of an outer wall of an annular combustion chamber.
