  • Patent number: 5727710
Abstract: Gas-tight container featuring an outer shell of metal or metal and plastic or metal and cellulose-containing material, a base, a lid and at least one side-wall. The container may be e.g. a can with, as viewed in plan view, a polygonal, round or oval cross-section. The base or part of the base of the gas-tight container exhibits a region which may be made to bulge and which is surrounded by an endless depression and, in the condition in which the can may be used, is in the form of a concave bulge. A container of this kind is such that one can readily recognize if the contents have suffered from spoiling or decomposition and, as a consequence, gas has been formed inside the container. If the pressure inside the container increases, the bulge is pushed outwards and, usefully, may form a convex bulge.

  • Patent number: 4751137
Abstract: Composite panels with plastic core of polyvinylchloride and metal outer layers bonded to the core by means of adhesive layers, including those where flame retardant additives are incorporated in the plastic core, do not exhibit completely satisfactory properties for certain applications, in particular with respect to behavior under fire conditions viz., the creation of smoke. Composite panels having a plastic core of post-chlorinated polyvinylchloride or a mixture of the same with polyvinylchloride avoid these disadvantages.

  • Patent number: 4239610
Abstract: A device for the production of anodized aluminum or aluminum alloy foil including a strip of foil, an electrolyte bath with a plurality of cathodes therein and an entry point thereto, and an anode roll spaced from the entry point, wherein the effect of the cathodes is increased with increasing distance from the entry point.

  • Patent number: 4221835
Abstract: An improved lightweight, flame resistant composite panel is disclosed which is readily shaped at room temperature without the necessity of machining. The composite panel comprises a foamed rigid thermoplastic core sandwiched between a pair of metallic layers. The thermoplastic core contains inorganic fillers in powder form to add further flame resistant characteristics to the composite panel. The metallic layers are bonded to the core by means of a thin layer of adhesive which exhibits good strength at elevated temperatures.

  • Patent number: 4193848
Abstract: A composite material for graphical applications, in particular for nameplate production and having foil of aluminium or one of its alloys stuck on to a support foil. This aluminium foil bears on its side facing away from the supporting layer an aluminum oxide layer, which is thick by comparison with the thickness of the aluminium foil, on top of which there is a further layer of a light sensitive plastic.

  • Patent number: 4177299
Abstract: An object is made out of aluminum or aluminum alloy in a form such as foil, sheet, containers and the like and has a 5 to 25 .mu.m thick oxide layer produced by anodic oxidation. This oxide layer exhibits a crack-free elongation of at least 0.65 parts per thousand in the non-sealed condition and the ratio of the crack-free elongation of the oxide in the non-sealed condition to that in the colored, non-sealed condition lies between 1:1.2 and 1:5.5. Such an object can then be colored by heat-transfer printing without producing hair-line cracks in the oxide layer, which would give the image so produced an unattractive appearance.

  • Patent number: 4171230
Abstract: A transfer medium, made, for example, of paper, is imprinted with sublimable dispersion colorants by halftone printing methods, and is suitable for sublimation heat transfer printing on non-sealed anodized aluminum via the trichromatic principle. The three basic colors used for this purpose are yellow, magenta and cyan. The transfer half lives of these basic colors at 200.degree. C. lie between 3 and 10 seconds, and the specific weight of each of the basic colorants differs from that of the average of the combined colorants by not more than 10%.
