  • Patent number: 7891197
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for the uninterrupted supply of liquid subcooled carbon dioxide. The liquid is supplied at a nearly constant pressure greater than about 40 bar. Liquid carbon dioxide is supplied at a low pressure and is sent into a low pressure tank where it is stored temporarily. The carbon dioxide is then pumped, with a pump, from the low pressure tank to a high pressure tank. During the pumping, the pressure of the carbon dioxide is increased. The carbon dioxide is stored in the high pressure tank until its removal. When the carbon dioxide is removed, it is in a thermodynamic disequilibrium between the liquid and gas phases.

  • Publication number: 20050126188
Abstract: The inventive process for the uninterrupted provision of liquid subcooled carbon dioxide at essentially constant pressure greater than 40 bar comprises the following process steps: liquid carbon dioxide is supplied at low pressure; the carbon dioxide is charged into a low-pressure tank (1) and is stored there temporarily; the carbon dioxide is pumped by means of a pump (4) from the low-pressure tank (1) into a high pressure tank (2), the pressure of the carbon dioxide being increased; the carbon dioxide is stored or temporarily stored in the high-pressure tank (2) until removal in a thermodynamic disequilibrium between a liquid phase and a gas phase. The process and the supply system (3) suitable for carrying out the process are distinguished by their high performance and efficiency for the uninterrupted and inexpensive supply of liquid subcooled carbon dioxide at an essentially constant pressure greater than 40 bar.

  • Patent number: 6460742
Abstract: A process for reducing fume, dust and/or smoke emission in transferring molten metal, entailing: a) blanketing molten metal, preferably steel or iron with, at least, solid carbon dioxide; and b) allowing the carbon dioxide to sublime, thereby restricting free air access to the molten metal, and reducing fume, dust and/or smoke emission therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20010019297
Abstract: The rod ignition transformer including an integrated low-voltage connector to the on-board network supply, and an integrated high-voltage connector to the spark plug, both accommodated in a housing. In the housing, the primary coil and the secondary coil surround a central core comprising a ferromagnetic powder composite material. A magnetic feedback member is formed from a highly-permeable magnetic material having low eddy current losses. The magnetic feedback member preferably is formed from ferrite.

  • Patent number: 5683652
Abstract: A process for reducing dust emission and free air access in the tapping region of a blast furnace by applying CO.sub.2 in a solid and/or gaseous state to the molten material and or the runners and vessels associated therewith. This process reduces dust emissions, nitriding of the product and energy costs associated with conventional dust reduction operations as well as wear of the refractory materials.
