  • Patent number: 8505084
Abstract: Portions of a computing environment (such as a user's mesh) may restrict accessing to particular types of access by particular applications. The computer may support applications executing within a virtual environment (such as a web browser) by brokering such access through a token-based system. When an application requests a particular type of access (e.g., writing to a particular data object), the computer may contact an authorization server with the credentials of the application to request the specified access, and may receive and store an authorization token. The computer may then access the computing environment with the authorization token, and may return the results to the application within the virtual environment. Additional features may further support such applications; e.g., a programmatic interface may be provided in a familiar language, such as JavaScript, whereby applications can request access to particular data objects and identify authorized access capabilities.

  • Publication number: 20130097680
Abstract: A multi-tenant, elastically scalable cache as a service is disclosed. Embodiments of the cache service eliminate the need for applications to manage their own cache tier. The multi-tenant cache service is implemented by maintaining/creating multiple named caches in a cache cluster and mapping each tenant's cache to a named cache in the cluster. Strict quotas are enforced on cache sizes This allows caches with different replication attributes to co-exist on the same cache server, allows migration of a cache from one cluster to another for load balancing purposes, and allows a cache to inflate/deflate to meet business needs. A network load balancer is used to route cache items to servers.

  • Patent number: 8130526
Abstract: A method is disclosed for programming an ID register of a microchip. The method comprises the step, prior to packaging, of attaching at least one additional ID pin to the die of the microchip. The at least one pin being so attached that, when the microchip is packaged, the at least one pin is sealed within the package. At least a portion of the microchip identity data is programmed by providing a plurality of unique combinations of binary data to the at least one additional pin. Each unique combination of binary data corresponds to a unique identity of the microchip. The at least one pin is coupled to a respective module of the microchip layout for providing, via the at least one pin, information associated with the particular identity of the microchip. The at least one pin is also coupled to the identification register, so as to, upon testing, include the respective combination of binary data in the ID register data of the microchip.

  • Publication number: 20100274910
Abstract: An application host (such as a web application server) may execute a set of applications on behalf of a set of users. Such applications may not be fully trusted, and a two-way isolation of the distributed resources of an application (e.g., the executing application, the application user interface on the user's computer, and server- and client-side stored resources) from other applications may be desirable. This isolation may be promoted utilizing the cross-domain restriction policies of each user's computer by allocating a distinct subdomain of the application host for each application. The routing of network requests to a large number of distinct subdomains may be economized by mapping all distinct subdomains to the address of the domain of the application host. Moreover, the application user interfaces may be embedded in an isolation construct (e.g., an IFRAME HTML element) to promote two-way isolation among application user interfaces and client-side application resources.

  • Publication number: 20090006075
Abstract: A method and system for generating a normalized string and performing a phonetic search are provided. To normalize a string, a native string is obtained. Upon obtaining a native string, native-character sets within the native string are identified. Each native-character set is associated with a phonetically corresponding normalized character-set. A normalized string is generated based on the phonetically corresponding normalized character-sets. After normalizing a query string and one or more search content strings, the normalized strings may be utilized to perform a phonetic search. As such, the query string may be compared to the one or more search content strings to ascertain relevant search results. Relevant search results may be indexed and obtained at a later instant.

  • Publication number: 20070143640
Abstract: A data path controller, a computer device, an apparatus and a method are disclosed for integrating power management functions into a data path controller to manage power consumed by processors and peripheral devices. By embedding power management within the data path controller, the data path controller can advantageously modify its criteria in-situ so that it can adapt its power management actions in response to changes in processors and peripheral devices. In addition, the data path controller includes a power-managing interface that provides power-monitoring ports for monitoring and/or quantifying power consumption of various components. In one embodiment, the data path controller includes a power-monitoring interface for selectably monitoring power of a component.

  • Patent number: 6279084
Abstract: The invention pertains to serializing local and remote references to a portion of a shared memory to optimize sequencing of requests in a switch-based, multi-processor system in which the local and remote references can occur concurrently. Usually, local accesses are typically much faster than remote accesses. Thus, in the interest of performance, both local and remote accesses are permitted to occur concurrently in the multiprocessing system. However, in one instance a local access can cause deadlock problems for a remote access. In addition, problems associated with coherency of the shared memory can also arise. Thus, in order to prevent deadlock problems and to maintain coherency of a shared memory, if a local reference to an address of memory has been forwarded to a switch, in this instance a hierarchical switch, then all subsequent references to that address of memory are forwarded to the hierarchical switch. The hierarchical switch has ordering properties that maintain the received order of inputs.
