A cached component of the requested content that includes at least some cached executable content is identified. The cached component of the requested content is provided to the requestor for provisional execution. It is determined whether a change, if any, in the requested content may invalidate the provisional execution.

Abstract: A content tag is translated. Dynamic content that includes one or more identification tags identifying one or more cacheable portions of the dynamic content is received. The one or more identification tags within the received dynamic content are translated to generate a conventional version of the received dynamic content. The generated conventional version of the received dynamic content are provided.

Abstract: A method of delivering an image is disclosed. The method includes receiving a request for an image. A variation of quality signature (VoQS) of the image is determined. A VoQS of a particular image is determined based on a plurality of different levels of distortion applied to the particular image. The image is categorized into one of a plurality of clusters of images, wherein the categorization is based on a similarity between the VoQS of the image and one or more other VoQSs of one or more other images within the plurality of clusters of images. A distorted version of the image based on the categorization is delivered.

Abstract: Preloading a cache is disclosed. A requested web content is received. A priority order associated with one or more resources of the requested web content is determined. The cache of an application is preloaded with one or more resources of the requested web content in a loading order based at least in part on the determined priority order.

Abstract: A method of speeding up the delivery of a dynamic webpage is disclosed. A request for a webpage is received, the webpage including one or more dynamic components. A cached stub is sent in response to the request, the cached stub including common components of the webpage that were empirically determined to be common components across multiple requests for the webpage. The request for the webpage is forwarded to an origin server. The webpage is received from the origin server. A difference between the cached stub and the webpage received from the origin server is determined. An instruction to correct the difference between the cached stub and the webpage received from the origin server is sent.

A dependency relationship between a dependent in a first resource group and a dependee in a second resource group is declared. The dependency relationship might include a locality based qualifier and/or a time based qualifier. The locality based qualifier includes a Local Node, Any Node, or From Resource Group Affinity relationship. The time based dependency qualifier includes a Strong dependency, Weak dependency, Online Restart dependency, or Offline Restart dependency. The declaration might be made using a graphical user interface, property list, configuration file, or the like. A candidate node on which to activate the first resource group is determined. The dependent is brought online on the candidate node based on whether an instance of the dependee is online on a node specified by the locality based qualifier.

Abstract: A method of delivering content of a webpage to a web browser on a device communicating with a network through a proxy server includes embedding a first nested browsing context in a parent browsing context of the web browser where the parent browsing context is associated with a first domain and the first nested browsing context is associated with a second domain; sending a request for content from the first nested browsing context to the second domain through the proxy server; and receiving at the first nested browsing context the content from the second domain.

Abstract: A resource identifier to be encoded dynamically upon detection of a triggering event is identified. The resource identifier is allowed to remain not encoded prior to detection of the triggering event. The triggering event that will cause the resource identifier to be consumed by a web browser is detected. In response to detecting the triggering event, the resource identifier is encoded, and an encoded version of the resource identifier is provided for consumption by the web browser.

Abstract: A method of delivering animated images by an edge server to a web browser is disclosed. The method includes receiving a request for an image file. It includes detecting the image file as an animated image file. It includes generating two or more versions of the animated image file, including a first version of the animated image file having at least some frames at lower-resolution than corresponding frames in the animated image file, and including a second version of the animated image file having at least some frames at higher-resolution than corresponding frames in the first version of the animated image file. It includes sending the first version of the animated image file in response to the request for the image file and delaying delivery of the second version of the animated image file until a subsequent request for the second version of animated image file is received.

Abstract: A method of updating a document object model (DOM) is disclosed. A message is received from a web browser requesting for information to update the DOM. A dummy response message is sent to the web browser, wherein the dummy response message does not include the information to update the DOM, and wherein the dummy response message causes the web browser to create a dummy node in the DOM. A request message is received from a client as part of a client-server protocol, wherein the request message requests at least a portion of the information to be sent to the client. A first response message is sent including at least a portion of the information to the client, wherein the first response message is processed by the client to determine a first update to the DOM, and wherein the first update is applied to the DOM.

Abstract: A method of distributing content to an application from a server is disclosed. The method includes detecting in a file to be sent to the application from the server that the application is directed to request one or more resources to be downloaded to the application. A network latency associated with the downloading of the one or more resources is determined. A subset of the one or more resources is selectively packaged based at least in part on the network latency. The selectively packaged subset of the one or more resources is sent to the application.

Abstract: A method of delivering content to a device is disclosed. The method includes receiving a request by a proxy server, wherein the request is received by a local client and transferred by the local client to the proxy server, and wherein the request comprises a request for content available at a content server sent from an application to the content server. The method further includes parsing the content and identifying a task associated with the content by the proxy server. The method further includes delivering the content and information associated with the identified task from the proxy server to the local client, wherein the content is further delivered from the local client to the application.

Abstract: Producing a modified document object model structure is disclosed. A desired webpage is requested. An alternative webpage is received in response to the request instead of an original version of the desired webpage to be rendered. The alternative webpage is processed. Program code included in the alternative webpage is utilized to request the original version of the desired webpage. The original version of the desired webpage is received. The modified document object model structure different from an original document object model structure corresponding to the received original version of the desired webpage is produced.

Abstract: Prioritizing delivery of different portions of images is disclosed, including: receiving a request for an image file; identifying a cluster of characterized images in an N-dimensional space to which the image file belongs; assigning a split point to the image file that is associated with the identified cluster of characterized images; and prioritizing a delivery of a first portion and a second portion of the image file based at least in part on the assigned split point.

Abstract: A method of caching resources corresponding to a webpage on a client is disclosed. A hierarchy of a plurality of storage mechanisms available on the client is determined based at least in part on performance of the plurality of storage mechanisms. The hierarchy comprises a plurality of levels to which each storage mechanism may be assigned. A request to cache a first resource corresponding to a webpage is received. One of the plurality of storage mechanisms for caching the first resource is selected based at least in part on the hierarchy. The first resource is stored in the selected storage mechanism of the hierarchy.

Abstract: A method of distributing content is disclosed. The method includes receiving by an edge server an indication indicating that a client has sent a request for a file that includes content related to executing an application. The method includes analyzing interaction with the client by the edge server to determine a first portion of the file that is likely to be required by the client for executing the application sooner than a second portion of the file. The method further includes generating by the edge server a modified file that includes the first portion of the file. The method further includes transmitting the modified file to the client.
